Well, even though we didn't win gold, it is still our first medal in 48 years AND since independence.
I'm so lucky.
My current age is my favourite number AND this is the first medal I've seen been won for Singapore!
YAY!
Let's take note of the day.
17 August 2008.
Game ended: 21:15
Game duration: 1 hr 45 min.
YAY!
The Hong Kongs lost to China in 53 min, but I think Singapore is a whole lot better, taking almost twice the time, stretching and dragging the time, till the final fall.
The game results were as such:
Match 1 2 3
Chi. 3 3 3
Sin. 1 1 0
First game was Feng TW (no. 9) against Wang Nan (no. 5).
Second game was Li JW (no. 6) against Zhang Yi Ning (no. 1).
Third game was Li JW (no. 6) and Wang YG (no.7) against Zhang YN (no. 1) and Guo Yue (no. 2).
I heard (well, saw through the newspapers) that Li and Zhang once were from the same sports school of sorts in China.
When a Singaporean scouting for table tennis foreign talent came to China, he wanted both Zhang and Li to come over, but the Chinese said that Zhang was going to be no. 1 so they refused. At that time, Zhang was only 12.
Anyway, my brother doesn't like Wang YG. He thinks she's no good, always hitting out balls.
Ah, but who cares.
First medal in 48 years.
When I saw the Singapore flag being raised just to the right of China's, I felt so...I can't really say happy nor proud, maybe a little disappointed when we lost to China?
I can't believe I felt disappointed. We freakin' won a medal! I think I've something wrong with my head.
Oh yeah, and a Singaporean guy gave out the medals to the Singapore team. Flowers were given out too. My mother suggested that they would be reused for another event, but apparently, they were meant to be kept.
Oh, I remember thinking that Park Mi Yong of Korea looked a lot like Lou Shan from Art Club...just a thought.
