Just 3 days ago I did the most stupid thing ever. I came back home as usual, which means gorging some food from the kitchen then carrying my bag and file all they way up to the 3rd floor. After that, reflexes made me press that 'on' button on my PC.
(By the way, I recently developed a habit of switching off my monitor screen as long as I'm not using it or once I shut the computer down)
So after I put my bag down, I looked at my PC. The 'on' button was glowing green, and I, totally forgetting that I had only just switched it on, shouted, "What the heck?! I never off it yeterday? Oh my gosh! I can't believe it!"
Then I switched on the monitor screen. It showed the windows XP start up screen.
I felt so stupid...
Then just yesterday we had Music and Dance. Mua Ha and I were a group (group 04) and Rachel (1), Anabelle and Gloria were in another group (group 00). So we had to continue on the song that we had started on last week. It was called 'American Tail'.
In the previous week, we did the melody and drum beat. This week, we were supposed to give it chords, a bass, and layer it. Because both Mua Ha and I only had grade 3 qualifications, we took a seriously long time to figure out how to play them nicely (and even then it was just boring to listen to...probably used wrong type of chords...). The chords only started to mingle with the melody well when Rachel (1) played it for us when she came over. =D
Oh yes. Rachel (1) just took her grade 8 Piano exam on Tuesday, 3 days ago. So she both she and Gloria had grade 8 qualifications. I think Anabelle has grade 7 qualifications.
Mua Ha and I had the lowest qualification in the whole of that half of our class. And we were the only 2 with that qualifications...so I really didn't expect much from us lah. On the other hand, Rachel (1), Gloria and Anabelle had one of the highest in the class, so I always expected them to be way ahead of us.
The teacher (Mr. Nah) said that the group which produces the best music (drums, melody, chords, bass, and layering) combination would receive a pack of strawberry flavoured Pocky from him. Mua Ha really wanted that (for her lunch...-.-").
So we mixed around with the layering once we were done with the rest. I put the introduction as the last 2 bars of the song, but Mua Ha didn't like it that way, so she went to another keyboard at the other end of our table and tried to figure out a starting. They were all quite good, but when I took the whole song into consideration instead of just the intro, it sounded kinda awkward.
Our layering was quite random. Just chuch some parts here and there. Some choir background in bars 5, 6, 7, 8 and 13, 14, 15, 16. Oh yeah, before that, we changed our melody to a trumpet. Then for chords we added a weird instrument (which name I forgot) into bars 7, 8 and 15, 16.
Mr. Nah decided to go and assess our song composition in decending order, which means my group was 2nd in line. Min Chih's group (whom I forgot the members 'cept for Min Chih [were Ning Xin and Eda there?]) was group 05.
Their starting was nice on a whole, but when it came to the ending, they chucked in a totally wacky and out of tune wedding march that made the whole song sound WEIRD.
Then Mr. Nah assessed Mua Ha and my music. Basically, I did the drums and all the editting (this is a total cheater. You can play as terribly as you want, but after editting, bingo bazingo, your piece sounds like a pro) and layering, Mua Ha did the melody (I'll admit I can't even get the tempo down even with the metronum [sp?]), Rachel did the chords (like an expert, I tell you), and...er...I forgot who did the bass...I think it was Mua Ha.
Mr. Nah commented that our music was quite nice. But then there was this totally out part which I completely forgot to edit and...er...it was a bit awkward.
Then Mr. Nah went on to assess the others. I didn't pay much attention to the rest.
So when Mr. Nah released the results, it came as a huge shock.
"The winner is group 4." or something like that.
Mr. Nah passed the Pocky thing to Crystal, so I thought he got the names mixed up. Then Crystal said, "I'm not group 4, I'm in group 2."
Then he headed for us. Mua Ha didn't know what was going on. When Mr. Nah gave the Pocky to us, Mua Ha said, "Huh? We're group 4 hah?"
Clueless...
Anyway. There was a special prize for uniqueness. Min Chih's group got that. =D
Wedding March...
