WOOT!
OMG!
Singapore's women table tennis got into the finals!
Which means Singapore is in for at least a silver!
We have a medal secured for us!
This is the 2nd time in history we've ever been on the 'Overall Medal Standings' list!
Singapore's doomed fate has been changed!
YAY!
I was watching it on the bus home, but that was only Feng Tian Wei's match, the 1st of the team's.
I had to get off the bus before the match ended.
Sad.
But then when I got home I was in time to watch Li Jia Wei's match, 2nd of the team's.
Half-way through, I decided I wanted to know the result of Feng TW's match, which when I last saw it was at 2 games to love, to Feng TW.
I went to my father's laptop on the 2nd floor and used it to access the official 2008 Beijing Olympic Games website.
I couldn't find it, but I found the 'Table Tennis Women's Team Live Result', which I then kept open to watch the progression of the match of Li JW.
She lost. 3-2. So sad.
But anyway, I kept it open still and then the 3rd match started. Doubles, Wang Yue Gu and Li Jia Wei against some Koreans.
I shut down my father's computer and went to use my own on the 3rd floor.
We won, 3-0. I thought 3 matches was all that was needed, so I was like, why didn't they show the results that Singapore won.
But then, I decided to go down to the 1st floor and switch on the TV. It turns out that we have to win 3 matches to win and proceed to the finals.
Wang YG vs. a Korean lady.
We lost, sadly, 3-0. I got so tensed up for nothing.
Oh, you know, that 1st game of that 4th match, we were trailing behind by 1-9, then we suddenly shot up 7 points, but we lost the game anyway at 11-8.
Then the last game.
Feng TW was up against Park Mi Yong (Kor). There were quite a few long rallies that almost sucked away all my patience, but I think that was better because if they were too aggressive, like Wang YG was, I think I would have died from the excitement and raised heart rate.
We won anyway, 3-1.
So the score was:
Match 1 2 3 4 5
Kor. 0 3 0 3 1
Sin. 3 2 3 0 3

I took note of the time, it was 18:10 when the 5th game ended.
Did you realize the only person on the Singapore team that never lost in the Semifinals was Feng TW?
Oh, and the 5th game lasted more than 10 minutes, so it ended with what you would call a 'tie breaker' in tennis terms. We started the 'tie breaker' from 10.04 minutes with a score of 8-9 to Singapore.
It ended in a 9-11, after a 9-9 and 9-10.
This is the match that ended Singapore's long quest of 48 years for her second Olympic medal since Tan Howe Liang's silver in the weight-lifting competition, lifting up to 70+ kg, which, I'll admit, is very little compared to the female champion of one of the category of the weight-lifting competition who lifted a 128 kg.
...
This is also our 1st medal since independence.
THE WOMEN"S TABLE TENNIS TEAM OF YEAR 2008 BEIJING OLYMPIC GAMES HAS DONE US PROUD!
WE LOVE SINGAPORE!
Except my brother.
