I'm Crappin' It

Hm, today was so-so, but RS and Philo were unexpectedly fun.

CLE had almost nothing to do with the SL Project.

In addition, the trip to the Singapore Science Centre was superb.

So all in all, maybe today was a good day.

Philo was cool. We discussed about morals. After going round and round in circles for minutes on the end, Mr. Lim (that's his name, right?) deduced from our community of inquiry that our morals are affected by the environment around us.

But that alone does not define our morals. We also have to think through it and reflect. Our reflection will be the final decision. So basically our morals are part affected part unaffected by external things.

It was also defined that a general set of morals is decided by this thing called 'justice'. It follows Newton's law of equal and opposite reaction. You murder, you get hanged by law. From the bible, it says "do unto others what you would have them do to you".

So cool, right?

For CLE, we just watched some videos on Africa and reflect on them. What kept ringing in my mind was "don't forget us", said by Tony, an African boy.

I was not at all shocked by the living conditions (because it was what I expected, what I didn't was the neat streets in the first scene), and it made me ponder on how I would live my life if I actually were to live there, no computers, no proper bed and clothing, no proper shower...

Argh.

I wish what God said that 'all men are born equal' would apply to their whole lives and not just their births.

Today, we went to the Singapore Science Centre to watch and OmniMax show about the Grand Canyon, and also had a lecture about water and took a tour of an exhibit featuring water related stuff.

When we were released at about 18:00, Rachel, Moira, Anabelle and I walked to the Jurong East MRT Station. There was a Popular bookshop there. I wanted to check if there was any manga, so I went in. Rachel said she wanted to go home earlier, so she didn't. Anabelle would only go if I had a Popular card (got discount mah) but I didn't so she left.

I was so amazed at the size of that Popular bookshop. There was about 2 shelves reserved for manga translated in English, and 4 for manga translated in Chinese.

I found all the Prince of Tennis tankoubans there expect for 4 or 5, 2 of them being 41 and 42.

I had 1-3, 10, and 37-41, so I decided (after a long time of consideration) on books 4, 5, 35, 36. If I spent too much at one go, I think my wallet would go flat, and my back in turn would bend.

So while waiting for about 15 minutes in the long queue, I saw these Popular bags that they sold at a dollar each to reduce usage of plastic bags, so I bought one, thoroughly affected by the lecture about water conservation and also the effect man had on the Grand Canyon (which water level was dropped by about half).

So in total it costs $20.60. I heard $20.20, so I gave that exact amount, thinking 'is there a calculation error' because earlier on, while I had lots of time, I actually tried to find out the total price. Books 4 and 5 cost $4.80 each and books 35 and 36 cost $5.00 each.

And don't forget to add in the bag.

So when I was done, I was feeling very happy, and on the way up the escalator to the MRT level, I ripped off the cover of book 4.

I was really bad at memorizing, so I didn't actually know which line to take. So I went to check the board. I found our I had to take the Red Line to get to Bishan MRT Station. The MRT was already there when I came, but people crowded into it so much I couldn't get on and had to wait for the next. It came pretty quickly. About 2-4 minutes after.

I remembered seeing the train pull in from my left and thought that the rail allowed 2 trains to run there in opposite directions, then remembered there was such a thing as a split and felt very stupid. Because I couldn't see the right end, I didn't know whether this was the stop the train would change directions.

The board said so, but I probably forgot about it. So I got on anyway. Thankfully, it changed direction. I wanted to check the sequence of MRT Stations of which we were supposed to pass by, so I searched the carraige for one. It was on the other end of the carraige. I didn't notice the other one behind me until about 5-8 stops later when about half the people on the train had gotten off.

The ride to Bishan MRT Station took...like...45 minutes? The distance from Yishun to Khatib was so long compared to the others. I think it took at least 7 minutes (my watch stopped, so I didn't know the time).

When I finally got off, the sky was already navy blue.

So I crossed the overhead bridge and waited at the bus stop. The sign said that busses 156 and 58 have arrived, but the only busses I had seen were 52 and 54, one behind the other. Bus 58 came about 2-3 minutes later, followed by bus 156 almost kissing its hind.

Just for your information, I can take a direct bus home via either 58 or 156, but I decided to take the bus that came first, afterall, it looked like it was going to reach home faster anyway cuz' it was in front.

I reached home at about 19:00.

Yay.

My day.
