Recommendations for those who wanna draw manga style

I've found this really cool artist on deviantART.

She basically does tutorials on the basics of how to draw manga.

It's really cool! You should go there!

If you wanna draw manga style, that is.

First Ever Formula 1 Night Race

Lolz. When Massa was up first, I thought he was gonna win, until the 'change-the-tires-and-pump-petrol' team screwed up and he was given the green light to drive off before the pipe pumping petrol has been disconnected.

So Massa drove off with the pipe and into some other guy's way, then got a penalty for blocking someone and some other thing, I think it was refilling his tank while the cars to slow traffic when a car crashes were deployed.

So in the end, after all the disqualifications (Nelson [Renault] u-turned and crashed his tail, some people got kicked out becuase of overtime for something, a [Force India] went head first into the bumper at a bend, and some other guy got his back wheel twisted off), Massa came in 13/15...

That's kinda pathetic, and for once, my fave number is not really something to brag about...

Anyway.

First was this Fernando Alonso guy who drove a [Renault], then Nico Rosberg with a [Williams Toyota], and third was Lewis Hamiltono using a [McLaren Mercedes].

O, oh. Oh!

I've gotta report this!

Somehow just before I bathed I got the hip movement down for cha-cha just 2 days ago on Friday. Pity I couldn't get it before the assessment...

And the animal music...it was cut short, how disappointing...

Change in picture!

I thought you guys may have gotten bored with the previous one.

I did, so I changed it. This is something I found on deviantART today.

Same colour scheme so I don't have to bother with changing the whole HTML just cuz' I got a new picture.

Anyway, there was something I wanted to remember but forgot to post it up yesterday.

Here it goes.

2 nights ago (Saturday night), I had a dream.

I was being chased down by someone along this corridor with white walls, white doors, white floors and white ceilings.

The dormitory was hauntingly empty in noon.

My feet struggled to keep me upright, as my head was converted to a battle zone. Racing down the pathway, my breath started to run short, my hair slowly pulled out of the rubberband.

Ahead, I spotted a flight of stairs.

My pursuer was only three fast steps trailing behind me, and without time to think nor had I another choice, I wrenched open the door to the stairs and threw myself in.

The man hot on my heels was without a doubt muscular, but his reflexes, I could say were below average.

Jumping down the stairs two at a time, and sometimes three if I thought all he needed to do was reach out a hand and I'd be doomed, I dared not look back.

At the second last flight of stairs, I saw a glass window looming up before me, threatening to dig into my skin if I ever followed momentum and crashed into it.

I hooked an arm around the railing where it bent, and swung myself in a wide circle. The clunky footsteps of the pursuer seemed to fade as I made the u-turn and sprinted the last flight of stair equivelant to about two stories high.

It was a downward dive. I knew that if I slipped and fell, it would be the end of me.

One last step, one more.

I touched the handle of the door ahead, lunged it open, and stepped out into the bustling world of the shopping center.

Among the crowd, I should be safe.

For now.

The story continues that there is a KFC before the flight of stairs. I saw my parents and we went to eat KFC together.

That part was redundant. No coherence whatsoever, so I left it out.

It's kind of creepy to know that I've had 2 other dreams that occurred in the same place as this one.

The first dream was just me standing at an amphitheatre. Actually, you should be able to see the amphi from the window I mentioned in the italicized text. This dream was from quite long ago, say two or three years.

I was just standing there. I remembered there was a cat or something, and I was on a spy mission or the likes. Before standing at the top of the amphi, I recall squatting in the bushes nearby and observing something.

Then I probably got hungry and walked down the giant steps to a Japanese restaurant at the foot of it beside the stairs in the italicized text. Between the stairs and the restaurant was a toilet quite spacious, about twice or thrice the size of the J-Block one.

I walked through the restaurant. It had sort of a wooden brush to its furnishings. Everything was made of wood, except, of course, the cooking utensils and the sign board which I remembered was the kind where light can be shone through.

Then I exited the restaurant and I cannot recal any further.

The second time I dreamt of this place was about a year or so ago.

I was also being chased. I also ran down the stairs. But this time, I forgot where I was being chased, and after I completed the course of stairs, i immediately headed for the toilet beside it and took refuge there.

I know, in one of my dreams, that there was this level which was completely empty. It was like an observatory, except that even though the walls were curved upwards like half a ball, they were made of glass and the ceiling which was made of concrete was flat.

I remembered running there before, but I got found out and changed my plans.

Oh! I remember something. During the dream (the italicized one), I think I was helping someone escape because he or she had something. I was with a group, but somehow got separated and they came after me. Well, one person did.

I didn't know what happened to the rest of them. I think it was very supernaturalistic.

I mean, I think I remember that we were crossing a bridge about, say 200-500 meters above ground level, and there was a flying vehicle at that height. It's like, during this time and age, no sane person would fly something that low unless they can really control it.

The technology used to created that flying vehicle (about the size of a car) must be very high-tech...

Anyway. There was a dream, quite a few years back, that I want to tell you about.

My father, my brother and I were all starving. We were short of food, and our car had broken down. I think we were kicked out of somewhere.

We saw this shopping center ahead of us, about 500 meters.

We walked for a long time and finally reached it. I don't know what happened, but we were suddenly taken for a ride where the carraige just moved parrellel to the ground, then suddenly went a steep 90 degrees turn upward to be perpendicular, then another 90 degrees till we were upside down, and another 90 degrees, and another.

Kinda freaky.

Then there was another one where somehow, I ended up in a super huge shopping center among the clothes section. It was like I just simply fell out of nowhere and landed in a pile of clothes. Apparently, falling out of nowhere is common. When I appeared on the clothes, nobody gave me a second look.

Then I wandered to the toys section. It was filled with super huge soft toys. I think I got lost.

My dreams usually have no coherence whatsoever because when I wake up, I forget at least half of it, and the important parts too...

T.H. Eaw Somep Owerof Nar U To

GAH! I'm officially reading Naruto.

Not that reading Naruto is bad, but in addition to reading Naruto, I'm also reading D.Gray-Man, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Bakuman, 1/2 Prince, Tantei Gakuen Q, Case Closed (Detective Conan), Full Metal Alchemist and Nabari no Ou.

I don't think I can keep up with that. -_-'

I've finally succumbed to the awesome power of curiousity when I saw that Naruto was updated on OneManga yesterday.

I kinda clicked it and now I'm a bit stuck on it.

Now all I have to do is to get hooked on Vampire Knight, One Piece and Bleach to be addicted to the 'Hot' category of Manga, though I highly doubt I'll EVER get addicted to Vampire Knight. I read it once or twice some time back, and although the drawings caught my attention, the plot seriously failed to.

All I learnt is that Yuki Cross (or Kurossu Yuki, whichever you prefer) is actually a vampire but was dormant until Kaname Kuran (or Kuran Kaname), a vampire, bites her. In reality, they were siblings, and Yuki was conceived to be Kaname's wife, but there is now a suspicion going around that Kaname is actually adopted.

So yeah, Zero and Kaname fought for Yuki's love (Zero is a classmate of Yuki's, and only the 2 of them know that the class that studies in the night are vampires) and Kaname won, apparently.

Tada.

Boring.

Snore.

*Falls asleep, thinking: HanJun will kill me if she ever comes across my blog.*

Mm, since Bleach and One Piece are both Shounen Manga, there is quite a possibility the plot will get me hooked (though One Piece's drawings are not really that attractive...but it seems interesting).

Bleach seems interesting enough though, both in drawing sense and plot, but seriously, Ichigo is a stupid name for a guy. I wonder what it'd be like to name a boy 'Strawberry'.

You want me to get hooked to these manga?

It's just a matter of time.

And my results. If I do badly, my internet connection and access to my computer will be cut off permanently by my father.

Naruto is kinda cool, but, erm, seeing 2 guys k*ss in the 3rd chapter is kind of disturbing... 'specially when both of them are main characters and the chances of me being reminded of the incident is kinda high...

Other than that, I like it cuz' it has people who are being underestimated. This is usually the common characteristic among the mangas I like.

Characteristics of Manga I like (usually):

-Underestiming people because of their age (or immaturity).
eg. Naruto
Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Tantei Gakuen Q
Case Closed (Detective Conan)
Prince of Tennis
Black Cat
Fight no Atsuki
Dogashi Kaden
Belmonde le VisiteuR
Full Metal Alchemist
Death Note

-Shounen Manga.
(Shoujo mangas usually have very boring plots, except for those by Kaori Yuki, of course. I love Ludwig Kakumei)
eg. Naruto
Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Tantei Gakuen Q
Case Closed (Detective Conan)
Prince of Tennis
Black Cat
Fight no Atsuki
Dogashi Kaden
D.Gray-Man
Belmonde le VisiteuR
Death Note
Bakuman
Full Metal Alchemist

-Presence of Sadists (or emo/depressing looking people) who are main characters
eg. Ludwig Kakumei (Ludwig Kakumei)
Count Cain/Cain Saga [Never read it because it has a Mature Content rating, but I'm guessing it's nice cuz' Godchild, the sequel which does NOT have a Mature Content rating is nice] (Count Cain)
Godchild [By the way, the 'Shounen-ai' category is so super micro in Godchild so you'd probably not notice, but I can't say the same for Cain Saga cuz' I've never read it]- sequel of Cain Saga (Count Cain)
Belmonde le VisiteuR (Belmonde)
Naruto (Uchiha Sasuke)
Death Note (L Lawliet)
D.Gray-Man (Kanda Yuu, Lee Komui [well, he's sort of sadistic...])
Katekyo Hitman Reborn (Hibari Kyouya, Reborn [kind of])

-Really creepy/crazy pasts or ancestry/ supernatural
eg. D.Gray-Man
Naruto
Black Cat
Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Tantei Gakuen Q
Full Metal Alchemist

-Sports
eg. Prince of Tennis

Fight no Atsuki

Dogashi Kaden

Manga Recommendation (III)

I just read the first 5 (and only) chapters of a manga called Bakuman.

It's incomplete, but I liked it anyway.

The mangaka (the person who wrote the manga) was one of the co-authors (or was there only one author?) of Death Note.

The plot is a little twisted, what with getting engaged due to a dream at the mere age of...er...I actually dunno, but I'm guessing it's 18.

(Oh wait, they're 14...)

It is about this kid, Mashiro, who starts on a manga due to various reasons.

1. He drew on his notebook the girl whom he likes, Azuki, and another boy, Takagi, so happens to find it. He thinks Mashiro draws well, and blackmails him into making a manga with him using the notebook.

2. Even though Mashiro got his notebook back, he decided to reconsider Takagi's request. He finds out that his crush wants to become a seiyu (a person who voices for anime) and makes a deal with her. The deal is-If both of them achieve their dreams, they'd get married.

Basically, it's just like this. Mashiro and Takagi plan to have their manga turned into an anime by graduation from a university and then have Azuki be a seiyu for one of the characters.

And they embark on a journey of manga drawing!

YOSH! (Supposed to be published on 13/09/2008)

I finished my Chem PT officially at 23:55 yesterday (12 September).

So I am free today!

I went to my uncle's house warming. I worked out at the gym until I was sweating buckets. Ran about 1.6 km in 11+ minutes. ARGH! MY STAMINA IS DROPPING!

So after I killed myself, I went to check out my uncle's house. It was super small. 2 of their 3 rooms could barely fit a single size bed in.

Anyway. Their balcony seemed larger than each of the rooms that could barely fit a single size be in.

I went home at 22:40, reached home at 22:55 around there.

My father extended internet to 00:00 cuz' we came back late.

-----------------------------
14/09/2008's report

My father took away my computer access.

But then he restored it just now.

So now I can use the computer again.

I thought I had to survive with the withdrawal symptoms...

Scary...

ICT: Jaren

Today during ICT I did a picture of Jaren on Paint using the mouse.

We were supposed to finish the dog n' kennel thing today, but I've already completed it last week, and it seems I'm the only one.

Miss Tami said that we could do whatever we like once we're done.

So I did this.

I decided to make it a little more creepy like this.

Uh, now that I've done that, I find the other 2 bubbles without the insides filled weird...

YAY! What'd you think? It looks like eclipses!

Manga Recommendation (II)

I finished reading Double Arts.

It's really cool. There's a virus (or some contagious desease or something) which is much worse than the ebola virus called 'Troy' or 'Troi'.

It spreads by contact, but even if you come in contact with the hair of a deseased person, you will catch Troy.

You will experience seizures before going transparent and then disappearing (much like diffusion, except that you don't diffuse, you disappear, like totally wiped of the surface of the Earth [a.k.a. obliterated]).

The people with extra high resistance, called 'Sisters' (somehow they're all females), are able to absorb the desease (maybe it's poison...) into themselves, but because of their resistance, they don't die immediately though they are affected.

They can 'cure' up to hundreds or even thousands of people by absorbing Troy. But eventually, when their body limit for Troy is reached, they get the seizures and disappear.

They believe that there is a person who is totally immune to Troy, and just when the main character, Sister Elraine, started having her seizures, a boy called Kiri catches her.

But apparently, the boy didn't contract Troy. It appears he is immune to it. He has a power which speeds up healing processes and increases vitality, so he is able to put the Troy in Elraine to a stop while he is in direct skin contact with her.

An organization called 'Gazelle', which seems to be hunting down Sisters, tries to capture Kiri because of his immunity. They want Troy to dominate the Earth and want to find a way to stop the Sisters from finding a cure through research on Kiri.

But to find a cure, Kiri must first reach the Head Quarters of the Sisters. He has to travel with Elraine hand in hand (though they don't exactly have to hold hands, just touching skin to skin anywhere will do) to the HQ.

Their journey is full of people hunting them down.

Can they fight without losing skin contact?

Will they make it?

Ferrero's note: I LOVE THE DRAWING! I LOVE THE HAIR! I LOVE THE EYES! THE WHOLE MANGA ROCKS! (overlooking the itsy bitsy romance part in the last few pages of the last chapter)

Manga Recommendation (I)

I just read finish a manga series called Angelic Layer.

It is about a young prodigy called Suzuhara Misaki who got introduced to a high-tech toy called 'Angelic Layer'.

In this game, you get a doll, which you can dress up and design the costume, hair, and so on. It's really cool. Once your doll (also known as an Angel) is done, you can battle it out with other Angels and their Due/Deu (person who owns the Angel)(there's 2 translations).

There's this competition called 'Angelic Layer'. Suzuhara Misaki, after less than a week of having an Angel which she calls Hikaru, participates in the Kantou Angelic Layer Tournament.

Being just a rookie, can she stand up to the other more experienced players?

IT"S SO COOL YOU JUST HAVE TO READ IT.

Just browsin'

Before you proceed, please take note that I have coloured all the links white.

I'm not prejudiced or anything, but www.mangafox.com seems to be promoting Yaoi...

Eww...

Vera may love that site.

...

Correction.

Vera WILL love this site.

Quite a number of the completed mangas have to do with Yaoi, Yuri, Shounen-ai (boy love) and Shoujo-ai (girl love, link is redirected).

Yaoi and Yuri are Shounen-ai and Shoujo-ai respectively made more s-xually explicit (please don't make me say/type that word...).

For safety reasons, I went to check up what they mean on www.answers.com before proceeding to decide whether it's readable for people my age or not.

Thank goodness some of them have the 'Mature Content' label flashing bright red in front of my eyes so I don't have to check the genres...

Oh, and I suggest you people also look out for smut, shotacon and ecchi when browsing for mangas.

I like to browse the internet for mangas to read, since I'm waiting for D.Gray-Man, Katekyo Hitman Reborn and Tantei Gakuen Q to be updated.

So far, www.onemanga.com is still more reliable in terms of manga with content suitable for the underaged brats.

Much more reliable, but www.mangafox.com has a greater collection of mangas...but it's slower in terms of manga updates. www.onemanga.com already has D.Gray-Man 171 and Katekyo Hitman Reborn 208, but www.mangafox.com is behind by a chapter each...

Wednesday 3 September 2008

Have you ever wondered if Singaporeans are the densest morons on the surface of the Earth?

4 years ago, when Li JiaWei lost in the bronze playoff, everyone was sympathizing with her, saying they'll stand behind her and support her.

Then during the Olympic Games this year, the Singapore team, consisting of Li JiaWei, Feng TianWei, and Wang YueGu clinched silver, the pros and cons of foreign talent starts surfacing.

How stupid can Singaporeans get? I mean, they won a medal for goodness sake! First medal in 48 years and the stupid Singaporeans are complaining about the players.

What morons.

I have no idea why, but the Singaporeans seem to think that foreign talent winning our medals for us in unacceptable and that we should use local talent to gain our medals.

Seriously, nowadays parents go for certificates more than sport merits, so our generation is all stuck studying and we barely have time to nurture any sporting talents that we may have.

And now, the adults are screaming at the Olympic officials to utilize more local talents. I mean, they were the ones who stuck us in the stupid, monotonous, life of die hard studying.

Then now their complaining that the Olympic officials don't send enough local talent to represent Singapore in the Olympic Games?!

How hypocrytical.

Really, I don't understand Singaporeans even though I am one. When good things happen, if the people who cause the good things are not Singaporeans, they aren't satisfied.

When bad things happen (like missing something by a little), the people who missed are sympathized, and they all turn into loyal puppies waiting at the owners' feet.

ARGH! I can't stand it.

You'll be able to find out much more of this ridiculous conflict in the previous days/weeks' newspapers.

Really, the generation of Singaporeans before us in ridiculous.
