Teacher's Day 2008

Ooh. It sucks.

Today we celebrated teacher's day, and before I plunge into a long summary of my day, I'll restrain myself.

Anyway, 110 was supposed to watch the 'concert' from the 3rd floor of D block.

I was standing at an area, the right one of the two railing area's that we have. Then some Tarbet person from 109 came and stood at the divider.

Then I decided to take a drink from the water cooler. Rachel and Moira came with me, so we asked Zann to help us 'chop' the place. The 3rd floor didn't have a water cooler at the end nearer to the canteen, so we went down to the 3rd floor.

When we came back, a Tarbet person was standing at my place. I tried to squeeze through. I asked her to go back to her place at the Tarber/109 area, she said they only have one railing space, and say that we have 2, so it's not fair so she went ahead and took our place.

If she had asked nicely, I may have said yes, but she was like so stuck up I was so tempted to shove and kick her.

But I didn't. Self-control.

Then I decided to go futher down the corrider to search for a place where I can watch the ceremony WITHOUT that stuck up I'm-always-correct-even-though-I-stole-someone's-space-without-permission girl.

When I moved back to untangle myself from the mob of annoying girls from 109, I saw that beyond the pillar, there was another section that they took for themselves, and what's more, only about 3 or 4 girls were there.

I wanted to screm at her: "YOUR FREAKING CLASS ALSO HAS 2 AREAS, YOU MORON! GET OUT OF MY SPACE! YOU JUST MADE MY CLASS LOSE ABOUT 1/10 OF ITS TOTAL SPACE!

Before that, she said that Moira should take her bag off the railing to leave more space (probably for her friends...).

ARGH! I can't stand her.

It's like I'm a black and she's a white, even though she's clearly in the wrong, I just have to give in to her.

So I went to the other end of the group and found a whole set of unoccupied railings. I decided to sit on the railing. Rachel joined me soon after. YT was just beside us, along with ZB.

We had quite a great view, until the hosts interrupted the 'Spice Girls' (more specifically, the house captains) to tell us to get off the railings. Then the whole of the Amphi stared at us.

It was unnerving.

After that, Rachel, ZB and I went to ZB's house cuz' we can only go to Rosyth at 13:30. We took 132, then 265. We waited about 20 minutes for 265. What lousy service.Oh oh! When I sat 132, it was the 2nd time ever I'm sitting on a double decker bus!

Er, after that, when we reached ZB's house, I found out that ZB's grandmother was going to cook lunch for us, so we went up to ZB's room and slacked. ZB watched a little of 'Pursuit of Happyness', and I went and reread the Guiniss Book of World Records 2004.

When we got bored, we decided to play a modified 'scissor paper stone' game. We started at the top of the stairs, then if we win the others, we get to 'advance' one step downward.

The person who reaches the foot of the stairs first gets to do whatever she wants with ZB's computer/laptop.

Rachel won, so she went to Orisinal to play that squirrel game I found during ICT this week.

Then lunch came at 11:30.

It was macaroni in soup with meat.

There was shallad too, but I prefered it without the shallad. I took at most half the time ZB and Rachel took to eat their food. When I finished, I decided to stuff myself with shallad.

I took at least 5 spoonfuls. We also had a packet of Pokka Green Tea each.

Then I ate some biscuits. ZB and Rachel wanted to play the piano, so I went up and used ZB's computer for purposes related to manga.

Then at 12:30, we left the house to go to Rosyth.

I won't describe the trip.

When we got to Rosyth, we found out that not only were we confined to the first floor, we were doomed to stay only in the IBC, and the teachers weren't there too! So lame. I lodged a complain on the whiteboard which we were supposed to write dedications or some nonsense to the teachers.

Then I went back at 14:00.

Reached home uneventfully by 159 at 14:15.

Hmm...

Today we started on a dance. Cha-cha, more specifically.

I didn't like the fact that I was the female partner and that Rachel (2) was the lead... I hate being passive...

Anyway, the steps were kind of easy, but when direction and hands and coordination with the partner is included, I think it'd be safe to say I ran out of juice.

After that was lunch then Chem. Mrs Tay returned us our FAs today. I got a 35.5/40. =D I think she returned it a while ago before today...

Uh, so today I finally participated in one competition (which I hope will satisfy 1/2 of the Art Club's requirement) and am trying to find out how to fill in the registration form for another.

The competition that I participated in was the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games Logo Design Competition. It was just some random nonsense I came up with on the bus home 2 days ago at around 19:15.

The second competition, which I hope I'll be able to figure out how to fill in the form before the deadline (which is in freaking 3 days time!), is Animania. The category that I'll be participating in is the Manga Art/Series competition.

I'll have to come up with a storyline, and draw out a manga no less than 10 pages and no more than 20 pages long. The submission of the work is 1 December 2008.

Oh yeah, today we got back our Si Han and Kou Shi marks. If each holds an equal share in marks, then my percentage will be 57%.

If it is individual, then my percentage for the Si Han is 45% and my percentage for the Kou Shi is 70%.

YAY!

I improved. During mid year, I failed the paper with 40%.

I WANT TO DIE...

actually, I really don't...

I'm really afraid of what I'll see in my afterlife...

Heaven? Hell?

Nothingness?

I really shouldn't blabber such nonsense on my blog...

Classmate Appreciation Day

Today during CLE, while we were supposed to have a class party, Miss Chen turned it into a 'Classmate Appreciation Day', where you have the gift you brought, and you give it to a classmate whom you appreciate. You must state the reasons too.

I was supposed to be second, immediately after Han Jun, but since I didn't know who to appreciate, I passed. I didn't bring a gift anyway. I had Art Club until 18:30 yesterday, and I got home at 19:30 thereabout.

So we went one. Moira appreciated Rachel, (someone whom I don't remember) and I. YAY! I got appreciated. She gave me a bear dressed like a ladybug...

I like the material it was made of!

Then after quite a while, Zann's turn came. She appreciated me, commenting that I didn't blow up when she criticized my drawings. =D

She gave me what looked like a friendship band made of knots of yellow, orange and red strings. It looked cool, I could never even dream of making something like that.

Rachel (1)'s turn came not long after. She appreciated Anabelle (first person's name to leave her lips, and I was like 'YES!', I guessed correct), me and Moira. She gave Anabelle a notebook (or what I THINK is a notebook), decided that Moira already had too many postcards and gave them to me while the small pack of Famous Amos cookies went to Moira.

Man. Even though I like food and notebooks a lot and don't find the postcards practical, they were a gift of appreciation, so they're precious!

I never thought I'll have so many people appreciate me! I thought max was 1. Well, that is, not taking into consideration who was actually in the class.

I was last. I said I appreciated Rachel (1), Moira and Zann. It was not until quite a while later that I realized I was only returning the favour. I intended to give the marshmallows (with Hello Kitty pictures...), but was short of one, so Miss Chen gave me a pack of colourful gummy sweets, which I gave to Rachel (1). I allowed her to pick cuz' she's the most appreciated.

Really, the longest lasting friendship I had (with terms and conditions applying) was 2 years. So I was really happy that the particular friendship lasted for 4.

I gave the marshmallows to Moira and Zann each. They both helped me adapt to the school. I gorged on the food (more specifically, chips), and when it came to lunch, I had to throw away about a fourth of the food, including a fifth of a hash brown... I really wanted to cry...

Welcome to the Trinity Family

Today I went to church as usual, just a little late though.

When I was going to get off the bus (no. 24), I noticed that someone from church (lower sec. too) also took the same bus.

Wondered why I never noticed before. Well, I'm bad at remembering names, so I suppose I'm bad at remembering ANYTHING at all.

Hm, so today's Fuel went as usual, just that now I feel a lot more compelled to get Zann (and the other non-believers in class) for 'Get Smart, Play Hard', a game show held at my church just next Saturday and Sunday.

I'm going for the Sunday one. Can't go for the Saturday one, got ballet...

Anyway, after that, service went as usual, just that I was sitting with my buzz group instead of the usual age group.

So after that, I went to meet up with my parents. I was waiting for them at the foot of the stairs on the 3rd floor but didn't see them, so I went to the 2nd floor foyer. My brother told me to go ahead of him.

Soon after I met up with my parents, my brother came along, saying that he's going to stay back in church and that if my parents would pick him up at 6 p.m. after whatever he was going to do.

It appears that he was going to 'Welcome to the Trinity Family' (WttTF), a course by Trinity Christian Centre to get the newbies accustomed to this church.

I'm not exactly a newbie, I've been here for at least 9 months. I wanted to go for it, but at the same time didn't want to. If you get caught in my predicament, you'll know how it feels. So anyway, my parents suggested I go. So I agreed, feeling pretty happy with myself.

We decided to take our lunch at the Han's outlet in my church.

We waited dunno how long to get to the counter, then another 20 more minutes before the food came. And the Chicken Superburger didn't even taste THAT nice!

Buy I washed it down with a little ice lemon tea I stole from my father's set meal.

When I checked the bulliten (sp?) for what time WttTF starts, it appears that it starts at 14:00. My brother lied to me... that @(!%($+-~*#.

So we had a lot of time.

The course was held at classrooms 9 & 10. We got in and were registered under the 'walk in' category cuz' we did not sign up before hand. It appears that majority were in the 'walk in' category.

There was a section, preached by Brother Andy, about speaking in tongues.

I've always wanted to speak in tongues. Since I was a kid, I've been exposed to adults speaking in tongues, people a few years my senior speaking in tongues, and recently, people my age speaking in tongues.

I wanted to speak in tongues so badly.

Call it compulsion.

Anyway, when Brother Andy called up those who wanted to speak in tongues, I went.

The four things to note are:

Relax
Believe
Don't Rationalize
Speak

Way before that, I was already starting to have my stomach juices riding the waves. I had no idea why. All I know was that it was at least 3 or 4 times how it felt during the alter call a while ago.

When I went up, they asked us to raise our hands as if to receive God's prescence and the holy spirit.

My mouth was just slightly open. Brother Andy said that at the count of 3, he wants us to start speaking in tongues. Never mind that it sounds like jibberish.

I couldn't. All I remembered was crying so hard my jaw was shaking really badly and I was heaving. My shoulders started to convulse and I was sure my fingers were shivering, though I didn't look at them.

My tongue felt like it wanted to move, but really, my head was really overpowering and it sort of made it freeze.

Pastor Darick prayed for me, placing a hand (I might add it was a huge one) over my head (which made me feel really like a child, but I truly am, I'm a child of God).

After a while, they stopped the baptism of the holy spirit. They asked those that know that they have been baptized by the holy spirit to step back a few steps, and those that know that they hadn't (or don't know that they have) to take a few steps forward.

I was so sure I hadn't. All I did was stand there with my legs trembling and cry.

Really, sometimes I hate myself. After a short indecisive moment, I stepped forward, squeezing through the people before me.

Then came the second round of baptism in the holy spirit.

Really now, I uttered some nonsense words. My stomach heaved again, my eyes leaked tears, my jaw couldn't stop quivering, my legs were almost giving way.

I think the words I murmured were just copies of all my previous experiences with adult leaders speaking and administering in tongues. I don't think it was at all original.

I think, that if it were from God, I may not remember it. I recall quite vividly I was willing my tongue to not just stay motionless in the middle of my mouth (I really felt that it wanted to move, but I couldn't move it, I think my head was restraining it).

Then I willed my tongue to move and it came out like a string of words from a spoiled radio.

Shalalalalaandiliandiliandiliohrabashandili...

and so on.

I felt that I've heard it somewhere before.

I'm such a copy cat.

But even if I wasn't baptized by the holy spirit, there are still more chances, right? I really think the holy spirit has graced this occassion by even being present. I'm pretty sure I don't cry so easily, but then, it was like I felt I could cry forever and nothing could stop the flow... but maybe the lack of body fluid can though.

What I'm saying is, even if I wasn't baptized by the holy spirit, somehow, some way, God will definitely make it happen.

Because in all my life as a Christian, this is the second time I've ever cried before the Lord and release the tears so freely.

This is progress.

This is the right church for me.

I THOUGHT WE WEREN"T SUPPOSED TO HAVE MUSIC ANYMORE!

Ah. It stinks. It so happens that we have music today too.

Man, I though last week was the last lesson.

This sucks.

All the way to the sun and back.

Times infinity.

Plus my age.

Times infinity.

Today we also received our Chemistry PT.

Tomorrow we have to hand up our EL Lit PT.

Yesterday was a happy day.

Tomorrow will be a gloomy day.

Today I feel like stabbing someone.

...


I think I have enough glooms to start to want to paint my fingernails black.

And also wear all black, not just my watch, wristband, and rubber band.

I want to dunk all my worksheets in calligraphy ink before handing them in.

And also put the teachers' head into a bottomless pit of slimy darkness.

I wish the PTs will just be carried away with the wind, and so will responsibility.

And with that all my frustrations and I'm-going-bald stress.

You know what?

Teachers and murderous homework are going to live for eternity till the world ends.

Because they say the good die young.

GREEN PENS FOR SALE! ONLY $3!

Heh!

Today the sales of the pens was quite good.

We sold 30 during recess (including Miss Chen and Miss Lim's), and another 20 during lunch. In total, we sold 50 pens.

YAY! We reached the target!

I'm not exactly sure where Mrs. Teo's would go to. Maybe tomorrow's?

Oh, and Mua Ha sealed the deal with Teri (Waddle Vice-Cap) who is going to buy a pen tomorrow.

Anyway, we also collected a lot of donations, and if someone donates even just $0.50, the profit will be equivalent to that of selling one pen, so I encourage people to donate!

Uh oh. EL Lit. PT is due tomorrow tomorrow (day after tomorrow, for the more chim ones), gotta brush up my annotations! Other than that, I'm done!

YAY!

Oh. And I still need to print. I hope my printer doesn't run out of ink...

Oh Oh!

And I also filled up my first file of random people! It holds 41 random people in 20 folders (cuz' on one of the papers I put 2), but there was a person just called 'Random' without the 'Guy' or 'Girl' cuz' I couldn't decide the gender. =D

I have started on a new folder, and it currently has 3 people, 2 guys and 1 girl.

Cheer on me! I hope to have created 100 random people (of either genders or a mix) by the end of this year, and even so, I think I'd need about 1 more file...

So sad...

Can someone just go to a pasar malam and get me any random 20 pocket file? As long as the cover page's base colour or the majority isn't pink or something lame like Hello Kitty, I'm fine with it.

So far, the files I'm using now are given to my by my aunt.

Ma, I'd have to thank her for them, cuz' they provide storage space for 40 pieces of paper a file.

Ma...

Well, even though we didn't win gold, it is still our first medal in 48 years AND since independence.

I'm so lucky.

My current age is my favourite number AND this is the first medal I've seen been won for Singapore!

YAY!

The Hong Kongs lost to China in 53 min, but I think Singapore is a whole lot better, taking almost twice the time, stretching and dragging the time, till the final fall.

The game results were as such:

I heard (well, saw through the newspapers) that Li and Zhang once were from the same sports school of sorts in China.

When a Singaporean scouting for table tennis foreign talent came to China, he wanted both Zhang and Li to come over, but the Chinese said that Zhang was going to be no. 1 so they refused. At that time, Zhang was only 12.

Anyway, my brother doesn't like Wang YG. He thinks she's no good, always hitting out balls.

Ah, but who cares.

First medal in 48 years.

When I saw the Singapore flag being raised just to the right of China's, I felt so...I can't really say happy nor proud, maybe a little disappointed when we lost to China?

I can't believe I felt disappointed. We freakin' won a medal! I think I've something wrong with my head.

Oh yeah, and a Singaporean guy gave out the medals to the Singapore team. Flowers were given out too. My mother suggested that they would be reused for another event, but apparently, they were meant to be kept.

Oh, I remember thinking that Park Mi Yong of Korea looked a lot like Lou Shan from Art Club...just a thought.

Uh...I made a big blooper.

It seems that the 70+ kg that I heard about was actually Tan Howe Liang's age...

He's 75 this year.

He lifted a weight of 115 kg and 155 kg in snatch and some other category. You'd have to refer to today's Sports section page 33 or 34 (I forgot which, but I have the newspaper clippings) for more details.

Oh, and my parents got me a new watch today and gave it to me after ballet class.

The watch, encased in emerald green,
The black skin shone within.
Gold words glittered on the package,
But what's inside worthed more than cleavage.

To Kovan to search for an accessary,
For me, but I wonder the hurry.
One kid, who needed to tell time,
For her, her parents spent more than a dime.

The portable time, now kept by my side,
Proudly gazing over the table.
My fingers fly over the key board,
And no longer needed shaking.

Whew. That was hard work.

Btw, the 'shaking' part refers to the neccessary action of literally shaking my previous watch which runs on kinetic energy. The watch kinda stopped after a while, even though I shook it like mad. I think the battery ran out, well, it was bought from China, so the quality's supposed to be lousy.

Also, the colour on the previous watch began to wear to grey.

But I still liked that watch, because it only has numbers 12 and 6, glows in the dark, and bears all 3 of my favourite colours, red, white and black.

It's sitting to the left of my keyboard right now. I got it because I lost my previous watch in an amusement park in China when I went there for the holidays. The previous watch was a blue digital one, which had a rectangular face.

That watch was pretty cool, and I regret losing it a lot, because it was not even half a year old. The watch that just passed on was almost 8 months old.

Well, pretty good for a watch made in China.

Anyway, gotta go. Need to chiong Lit. PT and go to sleep cuz' tomorrow got church.

END OF SINGPORE"S QUEST FOR A SECOND OLYMPIC MEDAL!

WOOT!

OMG!

Singapore's women table tennis got into the finals!

Which means Singapore is in for at least a silver!

We have a medal secured for us!

This is the 2nd time in history we've ever been on the 'Overall Medal Standings' list!

Singapore's doomed fate has been changed!

YAY!

I was watching it on the bus home, but that was only Feng Tian Wei's match, the 1st of the team's.

I had to get off the bus before the match ended.

Sad.

But then when I got home I was in time to watch Li Jia Wei's match, 2nd of the team's.

Half-way through, I decided I wanted to know the result of Feng TW's match, which when I last saw it was at 2 games to love, to Feng TW.

I went to my father's laptop on the 2nd floor and used it to access the official 2008 Beijing Olympic Games website.

I couldn't find it, but I found the 'Table Tennis Women's Team Live Result', which I then kept open to watch the progression of the match of Li JW.

She lost. 3-2. So sad.

But anyway, I kept it open still and then the 3rd match started. Doubles, Wang Yue Gu and Li Jia Wei against some Koreans.

I shut down my father's computer and went to use my own on the 3rd floor.

We won, 3-0. I thought 3 matches was all that was needed, so I was like, why didn't they show the results that Singapore won.

But then, I decided to go down to the 1st floor and switch on the TV. It turns out that we have to win 3 matches to win and proceed to the finals.

Wang YG vs. a Korean lady.

We lost, sadly, 3-0. I got so tensed up for nothing.

Oh, you know, that 1st game of that 4th match, we were trailing behind by 1-9, then we suddenly shot up 7 points, but we lost the game anyway at 11-8.

Then the last game.

Feng TW was up against Park Mi Yong (Kor). There were quite a few long rallies that almost sucked away all my patience, but I think that was better because if they were too aggressive, like Wang YG was, I think I would have died from the excitement and raised heart rate.

We won anyway, 3-1.

I took note of the time, it was 18:10 when the 5th game ended.

Did you realize the only person on the Singapore team that never lost in the Semifinals was Feng TW?

Oh, and the 5th game lasted more than 10 minutes, so it ended with what you would call a 'tie breaker' in tennis terms. We started the 'tie breaker' from 10.04 minutes with a score of 8-9 to Singapore.

It ended in a 9-11, after a 9-9 and 9-10.

This is the match that ended Singapore's long quest of 48 years for her second Olympic medal since Tan Howe Liang's silver in the weight-lifting competition, lifting up to 70+ kg, which, I'll admit, is very little compared to the female champion of one of the category of the weight-lifting competition who lifted a 128 kg.

This is also our 1st medal since independence.

The 13th of August

Not much happened today. Just that it's exactly 7 months after my birthday.

Philo today was kind of pointless and directionless. It's like we were going round in circles. I wanted it to end so badly.

Hmm, I guess the only interesting thing to note was that the bus 105 that I was on took a wrong road and had to take a deteour back to the planned route. I think when that happened, we missed a few bus stops, arriving at Tao Payoh MRT Station, which had a humongous Popular branch, I think.

He (I assumed it was an old man by the voice) almost took a wrong route a second time, just 4 stops before my stop, turning away from the highway but got corrected as a watchful old lady eyed the road due to the accident before.

Tsk tsk. Old ladies nowadays have nothing better to do...I think.

Bowling, 1 Strike, 0 Streak

Yesterday I went bowling with my paternal side to celebrate National Day. After that, we went to one of the club's restaurant, Sakura, to have a buffet dinner.

The bowling was terrible. I got size 6 shoes, my mother got size 4, and my brother got size 8. Wow. Big difference.

Anyway, my brother was superb in his bowling skills (compared to me).

My score was as such:

Total up would be 49. Oh. X=Strike.

My brother helped me play round 4, and this was the first record of points at all on my...well...record.

After that, I striked on my second attempt. I was reading Prince of Tennis 5 that I bought from Jurong East MRT Station's Popular. So immediately after I rolled the ball, I turned back and stuck my nose into the tankouban.

It was when I heard my mother (my father went to work...on National Day too!) and my aunt and my uncle and a few more cheer (or something like that) and shout 'strike' that I turned and looked.

The rest were all based on luck.

My brother played 3 sets.

On the 3rd set on I-dunno-what-round, he tried using a 16 pounds ball. First, he squatted with the ball between his hands. Then he waddled forward before aiming and pushing the ball. It was so slow I bet I could out-walk it. It rolled to the right a little, then to the center, then to the left, and then went back to the center and scored a 9.

Then my brother used the same ball and rolled at that lone, standing pin.

Spare.

YAY!

So anyway, after that, we went to eat dinner. Oh wait, the club we went to was Safra. The Sakura restaurant there was quite good.

I didn't bother eating anything other than fried rice, teriyaki chicken, 3 sushis, 2 oreo cheesecakes, one white chocolate bar, one prawn, one glass of green tea, and half a glass of hot/warm water.

Oh yeah, I tried the raw salmon from my brother's sushi. It barely had any taste.

I stole the prawn from my brother's plate. It was freezing cold cuz it was dumped in ice. My fingers were numb for a whole 2 minutes after I peeled it.

The prawn was a little spicy, my brother told me he put a little Tobasco sauce on it. Tobasco sauce is a kind of pepper sauce.

There was this stand with a round base and a thin metal stick sticking out from the middle of the base. On it was a round surface reading '48' for table 48. Around the stick were 4 clips. 2 pink (yuck), 1 green, and 1 blue. Only the blue was opaque.

First, I used it as a gun to aim at my sister, who was mixing Tobasco sauce with wasabi and soya sauce and also a little of the white chocolate that broke off from my bar and landed on the table.

We created a few versions.

Then my brother suggested the clips be ammos.

So before he fires, he places a clip onto the stick, and after he fires, he places another one and fires again.

That was the start of the 'Tobasco Gun' invention.

My brother took clips from table 47.

So I arranged the clips in a fashion that all 8 of them were spread equally around the base and chucked it on my sister. It seems she did the same with those from other tables.

All her clips were pink. *shudder*

This version was the 'Tobasco Toy Gun'. The aim is to knock off as many clips from the opponent's gun as possible without having yours knocked out.

So I lost...sadly.

Then we came up with a new invention. 'Tobasco MegaBlast Version X'. I named it. +D

It was 4 clips placed with equal distance from each other at the base and also has 4 as ammos. This Tobasco MegaBlast Version X blasts a large amount of Tobasco sauce into the enemy's face.

The 'Tobasco Feeder' was invented by my brother. It requires at least a minute of preparing the gun, all the big showy actions, just for a second's spray of Tobasco sauce.

Of course, from its name, the Tobasco Feeder stuffs the Tobasco sauce into the enemy's mouth instead of just blasting it into the face.

'Tobasco Bubble Gun' was just created out of luck. We imagined blasting bubbles from the gun and while people think it's just normal bubbles and pop them, the Tobasco sauce, with all its hotness, will burn the parts that come in contact with it!

There was also the 'Eye Lock'. It's not much. Just something that you can put over your eye to aim.

Oh yeah, and as long as there are clips on the base and they are arranged in a way that they intersect at a point, it will be an aimer which acquires a target and shoots.

The more clips the more arrows, and also, the target's face would blink.

That was my brother's idea.

Beijing Olympics 2008

I just watched part of the 2008 Olympics opening ceremony. The first performance of the many men in silver playing many drums made me go 'wow, men dancing in sync'.

Then it got dull after that. There was a 9 year old girl in a red dress singing, then there were dancers dancing on paper and at the same time painting with their hands (this part was cool), then there was the marching in, and also some weird large boards being waved around.

I went down again after bathing to see Singapore marched in. Who knows, they didn't do that until at least an hour after I started sitting there again. My butt hurts now.

So yeah, it goes according to the number of strokes followed by the stroke itself rather than the universal alphabetical order, but Singapore was still one of the last anyway.

You know what? Singapore('Xin Jia Po')'s first character has 13 strokes! 13!

China went last, even though they had 4 strokes only. China had 639 people participating in the Olympics, if I didn't hear wrongly...

I thought, what would the Singaporeans think of the NDP Parade after seeing this opening ceremony?

I'm Crappin' It

Hm, today was so-so, but RS and Philo were unexpectedly fun.

CLE had almost nothing to do with the SL Project.

In addition, the trip to the Singapore Science Centre was superb.

So all in all, maybe today was a good day.

Philo was cool. We discussed about morals. After going round and round in circles for minutes on the end, Mr. Lim (that's his name, right?) deduced from our community of inquiry that our morals are affected by the environment around us.

But that alone does not define our morals. We also have to think through it and reflect. Our reflection will be the final decision. So basically our morals are part affected part unaffected by external things.

It was also defined that a general set of morals is decided by this thing called 'justice'. It follows Newton's law of equal and opposite reaction. You murder, you get hanged by law. From the bible, it says "do unto others what you would have them do to you".

So cool, right?

For CLE, we just watched some videos on Africa and reflect on them. What kept ringing in my mind was "don't forget us", said by Tony, an African boy.

I was not at all shocked by the living conditions (because it was what I expected, what I didn't was the neat streets in the first scene), and it made me ponder on how I would live my life if I actually were to live there, no computers, no proper bed and clothing, no proper shower...

Argh.

I wish what God said that 'all men are born equal' would apply to their whole lives and not just their births.

Today, we went to the Singapore Science Centre to watch and OmniMax show about the Grand Canyon, and also had a lecture about water and took a tour of an exhibit featuring water related stuff.

When we were released at about 18:00, Rachel, Moira, Anabelle and I walked to the Jurong East MRT Station. There was a Popular bookshop there. I wanted to check if there was any manga, so I went in. Rachel said she wanted to go home earlier, so she didn't. Anabelle would only go if I had a Popular card (got discount mah) but I didn't so she left.

I was so amazed at the size of that Popular bookshop. There was about 2 shelves reserved for manga translated in English, and 4 for manga translated in Chinese.

I found all the Prince of Tennis tankoubans there expect for 4 or 5, 2 of them being 41 and 42.

I had 1-3, 10, and 37-41, so I decided (after a long time of consideration) on books 4, 5, 35, 36. If I spent too much at one go, I think my wallet would go flat, and my back in turn would bend.

So while waiting for about 15 minutes in the long queue, I saw these Popular bags that they sold at a dollar each to reduce usage of plastic bags, so I bought one, thoroughly affected by the lecture about water conservation and also the effect man had on the Grand Canyon (which water level was dropped by about half).

So in total it costs $20.60. I heard $20.20, so I gave that exact amount, thinking 'is there a calculation error' because earlier on, while I had lots of time, I actually tried to find out the total price. Books 4 and 5 cost $4.80 each and books 35 and 36 cost $5.00 each.

And don't forget to add in the bag.

So when I was done, I was feeling very happy, and on the way up the escalator to the MRT level, I ripped off the cover of book 4.

I was really bad at memorizing, so I didn't actually know which line to take. So I went to check the board. I found our I had to take the Red Line to get to Bishan MRT Station. The MRT was already there when I came, but people crowded into it so much I couldn't get on and had to wait for the next. It came pretty quickly. About 2-4 minutes after.

I remembered seeing the train pull in from my left and thought that the rail allowed 2 trains to run there in opposite directions, then remembered there was such a thing as a split and felt very stupid. Because I couldn't see the right end, I didn't know whether this was the stop the train would change directions.

The board said so, but I probably forgot about it. So I got on anyway. Thankfully, it changed direction. I wanted to check the sequence of MRT Stations of which we were supposed to pass by, so I searched the carraige for one. It was on the other end of the carraige. I didn't notice the other one behind me until about 5-8 stops later when about half the people on the train had gotten off.

The ride to Bishan MRT Station took...like...45 minutes? The distance from Yishun to Khatib was so long compared to the others. I think it took at least 7 minutes (my watch stopped, so I didn't know the time).

When I finally got off, the sky was already navy blue.

So I crossed the overhead bridge and waited at the bus stop. The sign said that busses 156 and 58 have arrived, but the only busses I had seen were 52 and 54, one behind the other. Bus 58 came about 2-3 minutes later, followed by bus 156 almost kissing its hind.

Just for your information, I can take a direct bus home via either 58 or 156, but I decided to take the bus that came first, afterall, it looked like it was going to reach home faster anyway cuz' it was in front.

I reached home at about 19:00.

Yay.

My day.

Rewind, Replay

Today's PE was totally screwed.

Current PE module: Gym.

We had to come up with a sequence for a music that we would pick. The sequence would have to consist of 3 jumps, 3 balances, and 3 rolls.

So my group picked numb and an emo theme. Since I brought a camera (with a back-up speaker) which could barely be heard (if you turn it all the way up it's noisy) the previous lesson on Friday last week, our 'performance' got postponed to today.

So I brought Meteora CD I borrowed from my brother.

I had quite a time trying to figure out the appropriate sound volume for the song because the starting (which consisted of the cue to start) was super soft and then the whole song is basically quite loud.

We tried to practise, but we screwed it up cuz' Gloria and Rachel didn't know which direction to forward roll in for the 2nd forward roll (highly probably due to the fact that I forgot to state the direction).

So we abandoned the practice.

I think it was Ash's group that went first today.

They did cool.

So next was my group's turn (recognized by Gloria's name) and so we had Mel help us with the CD. I had to remind Mua Ha not to smile.

So we attempted to do the gym thing. There were many occassions where the group forgot their steps and someone (mostly me, maybe because I was the one who typed out the sequence) had to tell them what to do.

I, being the hypocrite I am, smile when I gave them corrections instead of doing that with a straight face as I was supposed to have one on throughout the whole 'performance'.

It was fun. I liked the tripod stand. Loved it.

When we finished, the class clapped. To me, it sounded like the clapping was the loudest for our group than the others.

Next was Eda's group. I had completely no idea what was going on because I was too dazed about finally completeing the gym sequence. All I knew was that there were some super gross actions (as in act REALLY sexy) and also things that almost the rest of her team couldn't do.

After Eda's group, Mrs. Annis announced that halfway through our performance, the film ran out so we had to redo. All of us were, like, huh... (whining, if you didn't get that).

So once again, we got Mel to do the honours.

That was so screwed up. I freaking smiled in the middle of nowhere and I don't know why I did that. Ruined the whole mood, I did.

When we were finally done, we were then supposed to be assessed for our forward rolls and tripod stands. I couldn't do a forward roll. I must be the only person in class who couldn't. Quite a few people came and asked me how to do a tripod stand (maybe cuz' I did one in the sequence).

So I only had about quite a little time to train my forward roll. I always end up rolling to my left...

So you can basically guess that my forward roll was terrible. So Rachel taught me how to do it. She said get into position, head as close to body as possible, then lift your but up and push yourself forward.

When I followed her instructions, I did it perfectly! YAY! THANKS A BUNCH, RACHEL!

So I tried to teach Rachel, Gloria and a little bit of Mua Ha how to do a tripod stand. Mua Ha could do it even without me teaching, so...GOOD FOR YOU!

Rachel still had a bit of a problem, and so did Gloria. I think it's because their legs keep slipping off their arms, otherwise I think it's fine.

So when Rachel was called up to be assessed for her forward roll, she asked me to support her (it always sounded like 'spot' to me...). So I did. I thought we were going to be assessed on both forward roll and tripod stand together, so I asked which one first. Mrs. Annis replied, "Forward roll."

So I got into position to support Rachel. When she was done, I was about to walk off, totally forgetting that I was the person after her in register order (either that or prepare to support Rachel for tripod). Mrs. Annis told me to do the forward roll, and I was like...oh dang.

Amidst mumblings of degrading myself, I got into position, still screaming in my head 'OH NO! DANG IT!' and the likes. So Rachel went to support me. Mrs. Annis told her to squat and do it instead of stand.

Rachel told me to do it the way she taught me.

You know, I was scared of forward rolls because I was afraid I'd break my neck, so I never tried to do it properly before. Thus when I completed the forward roll, I muttered to myself in surprise, "It didn't hurt..."

And I was cheering in my head that my neck didn't crack.

Thank God. (I can use God's name in here, right?)

That was basically all the good and juicy parts of today.

Oh yeah, did I mention I stayed back for a long time and bombarded Mrs. Tay with lots of questions on the Phosphate, Phosphite, and Phosphide thing?

It was really cool. I got to learn why some elements conduct electricity and why some don't. I also got to know how pencil lead works, and also lots of other things that make me wanna take up the 3 Sciences even more.

YAY! I LOVE SCIENCE!

The First Times

Today was the first time someone ever prayed for me in tongues.

It was after service, and I went down for alter call for the second time in my whole life (both at TCC). So generally, we were all singing a song as the leaders went around and prayed for us who were at the alter.

When my buzz group leader prayed for me, it was like, my stomach just heaved and the tears just leaked out of my eyes (which by the way, were still closed). I've never done that before...

I kept wondering, is that God?

In my whole 13 years of life on earth, it was the first time I was prayed for, and of course, the first time I cried when someone prayed for me.

Oh yeah, and when we were told to join hands all across the room and pray for the person on our left and on our right, my stomach heaved again and another drop came from my left eye.

I'm seriously being too emotional here, though I don't remember being sad or over happy...

Well, just a note, right now, it's so warm that I'm sweating more than I was shedding tears. Hmm, currently my whole neck is wet, there perpiration rolling down the side of my head AND my jawline and at the same time tickling my neck. I can actually feel the trailing of the sweat in my forest/messy jungle of hair.

Ok. You guys won't understand this. It's just a note I made to remind me of something.

Haven't posted for a while now...

Just 3 days ago I did the most stupid thing ever. I came back home as usual, which means gorging some food from the kitchen then carrying my bag and file all they way up to the 3rd floor. After that, reflexes made me press that 'on' button on my PC.

(By the way, I recently developed a habit of switching off my monitor screen as long as I'm not using it or once I shut the computer down)

So after I put my bag down, I looked at my PC. The 'on' button was glowing green, and I, totally forgetting that I had only just switched it on, shouted, "What the heck?! I never off it yeterday? Oh my gosh! I can't believe it!"

Then I switched on the monitor screen. It showed the windows XP start up screen.

I felt so stupid...

Then just yesterday we had Music and Dance. Mua Ha and I were a group (group 04) and Rachel (1), Anabelle and Gloria were in another group (group 00). So we had to continue on the song that we had started on last week. It was called 'American Tail'.

In the previous week, we did the melody and drum beat. This week, we were supposed to give it chords, a bass, and layer it. Because both Mua Ha and I only had grade 3 qualifications, we took a seriously long time to figure out how to play them nicely (and even then it was just boring to listen to...probably used wrong type of chords...). The chords only started to mingle with the melody well when Rachel (1) played it for us when she came over. =D

Oh yes. Rachel (1) just took her grade 8 Piano exam on Tuesday, 3 days ago. So she both she and Gloria had grade 8 qualifications. I think Anabelle has grade 7 qualifications.

Mua Ha and I had the lowest qualification in the whole of that half of our class. And we were the only 2 with that qualifications...so I really didn't expect much from us lah. On the other hand, Rachel (1), Gloria and Anabelle had one of the highest in the class, so I always expected them to be way ahead of us.

The teacher (Mr. Nah) said that the group which produces the best music (drums, melody, chords, bass, and layering) combination would receive a pack of strawberry flavoured Pocky from him. Mua Ha really wanted that (for her lunch...-.-").

So we mixed around with the layering once we were done with the rest. I put the introduction as the last 2 bars of the song, but Mua Ha didn't like it that way, so she went to another keyboard at the other end of our table and tried to figure out a starting. They were all quite good, but when I took the whole song into consideration instead of just the intro, it sounded kinda awkward.

Our layering was quite random. Just chuch some parts here and there. Some choir background in bars 5, 6, 7, 8 and 13, 14, 15, 16. Oh yeah, before that, we changed our melody to a trumpet. Then for chords we added a weird instrument (which name I forgot) into bars 7, 8 and 15, 16.

Mr. Nah decided to go and assess our song composition in decending order, which means my group was 2nd in line. Min Chih's group (whom I forgot the members 'cept for Min Chih [were Ning Xin and Eda there?]) was group 05.

Their starting was nice on a whole, but when it came to the ending, they chucked in a totally wacky and out of tune wedding march that made the whole song sound WEIRD.

Then Mr. Nah assessed Mua Ha and my music. Basically, I did the drums and all the editting (this is a total cheater. You can play as terribly as you want, but after editting, bingo bazingo, your piece sounds like a pro) and layering, Mua Ha did the melody (I'll admit I can't even get the tempo down even with the metronum [sp?]), Rachel did the chords (like an expert, I tell you), and...er...I forgot who did the bass...I think it was Mua Ha.

Mr. Nah commented that our music was quite nice. But then there was this totally out part which I completely forgot to edit and...er...it was a bit awkward.

Then Mr. Nah went on to assess the others. I didn't pay much attention to the rest.

So when Mr. Nah released the results, it came as a huge shock.

"The winner is group 4." or something like that.

Mr. Nah passed the Pocky thing to Crystal, so I thought he got the names mixed up. Then Crystal said, "I'm not group 4, I'm in group 2."

Then he headed for us. Mua Ha didn't know what was going on. When Mr. Nah gave the Pocky to us, Mua Ha said, "Huh? We're group 4 hah?"

Clueless...

Anyway. There was a special prize for uniqueness. Min Chih's group got that. =D
