Judo with Air

Soooo long since I last posted. It's the last day of January.

There were lots of things I wanted to say, but who cares. WeiQi is hard. A few problems online got me so hooked, but it's still hard. I'm stuck at elementary. I can solve...say...35% of the questions, but I can also do 2% of the intermediate questions I attempted! Okay, that's really bad, but still. I only finally grasped the basics 2 days ago...

It's quite good that I'm at least a 19-kyu now...in 2 days! Wow! Can't wait to rise till amateur 1-dan, but that'a far way off...I've only solved problems and haven't really applied the skill to real games yet...anyway, it's only on the net for fun...if it's fun...I'm just hooked to the problems, dunno why...I keep getting crushed as I go up...only half-way through the problems for 20-kyu to 18-kyu and I've already got half wrong...

It's freakishly hard to read ahead. I felt like dying. No, wait, stop about WeiQi, move on to my life.

School sucked. Got Bio PT yesterday. I remembered there was once that I wrote 'Biography' when I meant to write 'Biology'. Felt so stupid...

I hope I get to be...hmm, what would be the easiest to build? Animal? Decomposer? Plant? Planet Zork sure is strange. There's no seasons at all? If one side was hot, then the opposite side would be cold, wouldn't it? There couldn't be, say 16 hours of day and 8 hours of night on one side and the other also has 16 hours of day and 8 hours of night?? That's impossible!

I wonder how many suns there are in that Solar System...*get's knocked out*

Zorkian: $@09q#%&)@(q!#53@q@2@$)$#@$)$%^#%&_*$@_%#(@@!)__$^=634==! (roughly translated into 'How dare you say that! Our planet just has a unique shape, not like your boring round Mars!')

...Who told him (it?) we came from Mars?

Erasing the Trails of Time

Yesterday, I got stuck with a bunch of screaming girls watching 'He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not", a French movie.

The story starts of will Angelique buying a rose for Dr. Loic Garrec through delivery, allowing the audience to grasp that Angelique has romantic feelings toward Loic (pronounced lu-ik), and by him accepting the rose, strengthens the audience's belief that Loic reciprocates it and they are dating.

Further on in the movie, Angelique reports to her friend, Heloise (pronounced hair-lu-is), that Loic is going to leave his 5 months pregnant wife for her.

Angelique is estatic when she learns that Loic intends to take her to Florence on a trip, but dispaired when he didn't show up at the airport.

That night, Loic proceeds to Angelique's house and begins calling out to her and banging her door, not missing the doorbell. Angelique, still at the airport feeling depressed, never learns of this.

A few days later, Angelique's friend, David (who appears to like her), confronts Loic, demanding the reason to why he played with her. Loic puts on a confused face, then gets pissed and with mock politeness, chased him out of his office.

It is later reported that someone had accused Loic of assault, and Angelique goes to 'quieten' her up.

After a few more mind-blowing incidents, Angelique resorts to suicide. She turns on the gas and lay herself down, consuming herself with her thoughts and memories about when she sent anonymous gifts (mostly portraying Loic) to Loic at random times, going as far as to give him a duplicate of her key.

A rewind occurs.

This time, the story is replayed from Loic's point of view, revealing that the relationship between him and Angelique was just simply part of Angelique's demented illusion. She is diagnosed with a mental problem and sent to a psychiatrist.

A few years later, she was released, finally deemed sane enough.

Back at her old room, a cleaner sets out to prepare her room for the next occupant, he finds a collage of pills stuck to the back of the closet that formed the shape of Loic.

The movie kind of has a really good title. 'He Loves Me' fits Angelique's delusion, but 'He Loves Me Not' is the harsh reality she finds out later, as suggested by the arrangement by putting 'He Loves Me' first. =D

Anyway, today, I watched China's Lost Girls. Those stupid Chinese. If they didn't have any girls, how could their sons carry on the family name if they couldn't have children?

INJUSTICE!

I've said so much. See you!

Bottle in a Tin

On Tuesday, I saw a lizard with its head buried in a rolled up plaster. I made to remove the plaster, but the lizard wiggle so much that I left it alone.

Ugh. I hate pests, but I'm a nice person, so I tried to help it. The tail was gone, and where the tail should be was a stub of red blood.

Eww.

La di da, the days went on as per normal, though a little dash of Chinese here and there was scary.

I'm not done with the Chinese homework yet. A few more questions to go.

I WANT NO MORE HOMEWORK! Why are teachers so horrible?

Minnie Mouse is a Vixen with a Short Snout, Round Ears, and an Ugly Pink Ribbon

It's been a long time since I last posted.

Yes, it's been a while.

Today (I think it was today), I had a stomachache so I needed to use the toilet. I fled from the parade square when we were released, not forgetting to tell someone that I was in the toilet in case a teacher asked.

I sat for about 5 minutes, then I went off on my way. I forgot that the block I was in was D block, not E block, and opened the door of the classroom 2nd from the toilet on the 3rd floor.

I almost died with shock when I saw that I didn't recognize anybody.

Muttering an apology, I realized where my mistake was (literally), and thankfully, the teacher hadn't arrived yet...

You know, the previous night, I read the timetable for the wrong week and thought there was History today...

Almost wanted to rip something apart when I heard we had Lit/English.

Argh.

I like the poems at the end though. =D

Recess was super rushed. We only had 10 minutes left when we went down. I was too busy trying to finish my Chinese worksheet (which we all found out later, much to our horror, did not need to be done).

Yesterday, I was brought bread to school (I did so today too), but I accidentally dropped a slice on the bus...oops...

Well, it was a school bus, and almost pitch black right behind the driver's seat, so I doubt he noticed.

Pasting Roses on Grids

How the heck do you spell 'pasting' as in to paste? I've got a feeling it's either 'pasteing' or 'pasting'...

Anyway.

Friday, launcher trials. One hell of a time staring at that sudden lucked out 15++ meters flown by the small glider.

I was left in charge of the glider that's incomplete. I can't find a way to fix it (or make it better) so I dismantled it and left it alone.

Well, I dismantled it BEFORE I headed home.

Oh, did you know, on the bus that evening, I've heard more F-words than I have in my whole life.

Just a few stops after I boarded, 4 boys got on (about 17-19). Their hair was cool. Many different styles and textures, the rigidness also differed.

Ah, sidetracking. I thought they were just a bunch of normal boys, then they started shooting F-words off at almost everything.

So many uses which I've never even HEARD of before (but of course, that's a given, since I'm trying to stay away from stuff like that...).

Freakzoids. Uh, that's a word I use whenever I feel that the F-word is at the tip of my mind. Just something that starts with F but doesn't end with a 'uck', at least, not like Firetruck does...

They got off a little before Far East. Someone called one of the guys, and gathering from whatever I heard, he was trying to make the caller believe that he was still in the lecture room (though I think the rumble of the bus should give him away...).

He passed the phone to another of the boys with the excuse that the lecturer wanted to speak to the caller for interrupting the class.

The whole conversation was more or less about stuff I should stay away from...and the format too...

Yesterday I drew Sai in realistic form. Well, as realistic as I can. It's the 2nd time I tried drawing a full-face realistic style. No, wait. It's the 3rd. 1st time was when I did a portrait of myself 2 years back. It didn't look half bad.

Just a little while back, about half a week, I got really interested in drawing realistic style (I don't know why) so I started with the eyes. I just have a fascination for eyes that can't be matched with the rest of the body parts...

Hm, yeah, so when I was done with the eyes, the most logical thing to do next would be the eyebrows. I usually draw only one eye. I have a problem doing symmetrical things.

Then yesterday, I read a fan fiction about Hikaru no Go, where the main character, Hikaru, picks up drawing as a side interest to 'immortalize' Sai, a ghost which disappeared when Hikaru was from another timeline.

It goes like this: Hikaru got possessed by a ghost called Sai. Sai loved Go a lot, and Hikaru came to love it too, so much that he almost denied Sai the right to play through him. Gradually, Sai felt that he was going to disappear, but Hikaru, too caught up with himself, didn't bother.

Sai finally disappeared while playing a game with Hikaru. Hikaru goes to Shuusaku's grave to look for Sai. Shuusaku was the previous person Sai possessed, and he too was a talented Go player. Together, they made history.

Hikaru kept praying to god that time would go back, and god answered by returning him back to the past. Hikaru started treasuring so much he wanted to keep every single bit of him, so he picked up drawing to 'immortalize' Sai within pictures.

He went about other ways too, but I won't elaborate.

It was somewhere in the middle of the story when a principal of an art school chanced upon Hikaru's sketches of Sai, and he was amazed that Hikaru didn't draw manga-like people, but what seemed more like reality.

So then I got the inspiration to draw Sai realistically!

I must say, I'm very proud of it. =D

It didn't quite look like him, but it was realistic enough.

I'm going to work on realistic drawings! Yosh!

Church. Service. Denied of drawing rights. Well, actually, I drew a little between Fuel and service. Quite a nice drawing of a lady too. That was my 5th. I attempted another one, but I figured the eyes were too far apart, and since I left my eraser at home, I scrapped the drawing.

The 4th drawing really looked freaky...

And From the Sky Fell a Cookie

Uh...launcher trials...we didn't do as bad as I had expected. Quite good, on the contrary.

12m...

Well, but it's a little depressing seeing that other teams had gotten theirs to fly over 20m...

We did a little modification here and there, and finally concluded that the smaller plane flew the best, and also when it was not improved...

The improvements just made it worse, ironically.

Today's bag was so heavy. My shoulders ached just from holding the bag in my hands.

I chucked my files under the school desk, bought the Chinese textbooks, and...uh...I don't remember anything else that needs attention.

Space Pig

Speaking of coincidences.

Just yesterday, I met my brother while coming back from school myself for the first time. We always arrive home one after the other, never together.

It felt kind of strange, but having company is nice.

Then today, also while walking home (but this time not quite in my house area), Rachel's mother called out to me while I was walking along a pavement and they were halted due to the red light.

Amazing how something so small like a gesture of acknowledgement can make me happy...

Today was just hectic. Files, journals, worksheets, not to mention I brought a jacket to school today. It was maroonish, but others refer to it as pink, so they really couldn't imagine that I was actually the owner of it.

Mel thought that it was Rachel's, and I borrowed it from her.

Well, it was given to me from an aunt, it'd be rude to not accept it, also, the material makes the jacket very warm. I like it. =D

Usually I go for comfort, looks comes second, unless, of course, the garment is frilly, cut out of girly pink cloth, and has a design too...feminine for my taste.

If you ever chance upon me in a shopping center, you're very, very lucky. I really dislike shopping. My mother never bought any of those clothes that I want.

Hmm, considering that my taste is really different from what my mother hopes it'll be, I guess it's understandable. I go for clothes that are loose fitting, so I'm more attracted to those for guys, which also have better designs, most of the time.

Once, in Bosini, I saw this emo looking one and wanted it a lot, but my mother turned me down because she wanted me to get more feminine clothes...

Erk.

Art and design module was interesting. It was like Art Club squeezed into 3 hours. The pace was a bit fast, but I could keep up. I think.

Mr. Wong kept picking on me just because I'm from the Art Club and so was he.

Herm.

We revisited inverted drawings, simple solids penned on paper, and drawing using a view finder (though I left the view finder aside and drew from what I saw without grids cause we didn't have enough pens).

I drew the way people hold Go stones, but from the front view, it actually looks like the person is pointing his or her middle finger...

Sigh...

Clinging onto Moonlight

02.01.09 : Friday

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! I can't believe I'm reporting about this so late...anyway, we discussed SAFMC project after school.

School was a bore. Talks, and teachers. I think I've had enough last year...

SAFMC discussion was FUN! We totally slacked, talked a lot about manga (well, at least me and Mel did). Rachel and Anabelle weren't there.

Man. They've missed out.

We talked about stuff. Like rebuilding the glider, what are we going to consider when we rebuild it and the likes.

Went home via bus from school for the first time in what seems like a million sheeps that have jumped over the wall.

Talked to Mel on the bus home. Introduced her to some Hikaru no Go fan fiction.

02.01.09 : Saturday

No ballet classes. Slept till 13:00. My parents and my brother have already left for my sister's (miserable) scholarship awarding ceremony of (a meager amount of) $250.

I feel so proud of myself.

Anyway, I was actually awake when they tried to wake me up at around 08:00 or so (didn't really check my watch, too busy trying to feign sleep). I wanted to sleep more, so I didn't wake up.

Frankly, I didn't remember that it was my sister's 'special' day until I was fully awake at 13:30.

My mother caught me drooling in bed and handed me some tissue while I was asleep...

When I woke up, I tried the piano. Hadn't played it in a few days. I was trying to get this part of the song right on my own...

At night, we hiked at AMK Hub area to find a pair of jeans for my brother (which I think never existed...) and get some groceries.

03.01.09 : Sunday

CHURCH! We (me and my sis) got to church by 08:40. We were told to get our butts there by 08:45. Guess we came a little early.

So anyway, I just sat and read manga. Until they called me over and we went out of church to play games/ice breakers.

The current Sec1s were newly assimilated into the cell groups, and the current Sec2s were also kinda shuffled.

After this game of stick-the-newspaper-balls-on-other-team's-masking-tape-mummy(-that-didn't-look-like-a-mummy-at-all-with-only-3-layers-of-tape-wrapped-around-the-torso), we played captains ball.

I played at my group's side of the field most of the time. But sometimes, I just ran over because I thought the others needed help (the balls kept getting intercepted!!! I guess my team is just made up of short people...).

They just ignored me!!!

I tried being captain, caught about 2-3 balls, then resumed my original role.

I was somehow picked out of the crowd and congratulated for trying to score. Dunno why. I was like: I'm very glad to be appreciated, but I didn't do anything AT ALL.

After that was the same old.

04.01.09 : Monday

ARGH!!! SCHOOL! Uh... we spent the whole teacher-student interaction time playing that time bomb thing.

I really hate games. They pump up my adrenaline, and I don't really like it. My heart just feels like jumping out of my chest when I play games...

I took extra notice of the HikaGo posters (to publicize the WeiQi [otherwise called Go] club) because I just LOVE the manga.

SAFMC discussion after official school. More like a practical hands-on session, not that I wasn't very happy.

Found out that ChunHui actually knows how to play Go! Must learn from her...I need some out put for my addiction...

Built a few gliders. Didn't know if they were successful. One of them kept flying AWAY from Sophia. When Sophia stood in front of it, it either did a semi-loop-the-loop up her nose (well, actually, it was near her nose) or dive and land before her feet.

It really hates her...

Manga Recommendation (XI)

Title: Uzumaki
Mangaka: Ito Junji
Genre: Horror

'Uzumaki' means 'spiral' in Japanese. Kurouzu-chou is a village somewhere by the sea. Strange happenings having to do with spirals occur. Spirals manifest themselves in the forms such as whirlpools, snails, ferns, shells, and obsessions.

The curse of the spirals draw the inhabitants into a point of no return...

..........

The summary is a total lift from 'Viz'.

I tried rephrasing it. It's kinda hard...

Holly Brackets

Watch Night was...wow!

For those who don't know, it's an event held by my church on the eve of the New Year.

It started at 21:00, but we started queuing by about 19:30. From last year's experience, where coming at 20:00 made those who came (I didn't go last year) then sit in the Overflow Room.

It's a room where people get chucked when the Auditorium (or was it Chapel?) overflows with people.

There was dinner with the buzz group at 18:00. I didn't know about until 17:10 thereabout. My church friend, Miranda, offered to meet at Paya Lebar MRT Station to show me the way to Singapore Post Center (or is it Centre?).

I accepted. After a rushed bath at 17:45, My father informed me that I could take bus 24 straight to Sing. Post.

I had to drag my sister along. So troublesome. Anyway, on my way to the bus stop, I SMSed my friend that I could go on my own and didn't need assistance, so I boarded the bus, typing the last few words: Boarding bus.

In the middle of the bus ride, at some sports stadium, JingYun (that's her name, right?) called me, and I mistook her for Miranda...HOW COULD I?!?!?!?!

The bus started getting really crowded at the stop where my church is. My sister, being the evil person she is, sat at the seats reserved for the 'elderly, disabled, and pregnant'.

We arrived at Sing. Post with a very confused me. So we wandered around looking for KFC.

Upon spotting the all famous junk food restaurant (just 2nd to McDonalds), we sprinted to the other side.

While waiting for more people to come, I went to buy my dinner.

A Shrooms Burger Meal exchanging Pepsi for Mineral Water was mine, just a Shrooms Burger was my sister's, and another Shrooms Burger Meal for YingYi (I think).

While waiting for the food (the Shrooms burger required a 3 minutes wait), we spotted this sign that stated, "Creamy Shrimp." Miranda asked what they put in that made the shrimp creamy.

I piped up, "Cream!"

And everybody laughed. Well, they did say 'Creamy', right?

The meal came a while later.

I didn't feel very full, but heck cares.

We queued up a while to get into the Auditorium (or Chapel), and then settled right in front at the alter. I somehow got stuck between a guy and Miranda...so stuck I couldn't even sit cross-legged...

Before Watch Night officially started, I visited the toilet, then a water cooler all the way on the other side of the church...

Bleah. The water tastes like cement...

Following that, we exchanged EZ-link cards just to stare at what others looked like when they were younger...much younger.

I had already taken off my specs, because I felt I wanted to sleep just a moment ago due to the fact that Miranda and Jasmine totally BANNED me from drawing and reading manga as they said that once I started, I wouldn't stop...

Che.

But I made a deal with them. I would draw for only 15 minutes. To this, they reluctantly agreed. JingYun (sitting in front of me), told the guy that was sitting beside me (I supposed they're acquainted) that he should watch and learn.

I wonder if the guy likes drawing too. I wonder if other people like drawing too.

Then after the 15 minutes was up, they made me draw this Eeyore plushie, JingYun's Christmas present which she brought to Watch Night.

So I did. They thought it was cute.

Watch Night started with Praise, so we jumped. =D

I like Praise. It's very...enthusiastic. Worship feels a bit too monotonous and dull, but, well, I...uh...like it a little.

After Praise, it's always worship. And after a short session of both, testimonies of God's goodness were shared. The first one was an Eurasian guy, if I remember correctly.

There was one guy that spoke in Chinese. Oh the HORROR! Because the guy beside me did really lousy in Chinese too, JingYun translated for him and I overheard.

In the end, someone on stage (I've got a feeling it was Pastor Gary, but I can't be sure) translated for us...

Then worship again, then testimonies, then worship again, then sermon.

Pastor Dominick Yeo, was it? I only remember him by Pastor Dom..

So I took down notes. At the same time, I tried drawing this circle shape thing made of flowers and plants and fruits. I was inspired by the HUGE one that hung above the stage.

It was hard work, but very fun. =D

After the sermon, we joined hands and prayed. We prayed for Abundand living, for Posterity, for Wholeness, for Plentifulness, for Wellness, and for Restoration.

First in English, then followed by tongues. Then we worshipped one verse and one chorus of a song and Pastor Dom. suddenly shouted, "3, 2, 1!"

And tadaa! 2009. It came as a BANG. I didn't even know it had come. It was so soon!

We were released much earlier than expected. The estimated time was 00:30, but we were let go by 00:10.

I tried calling my brother a few times to ask for his whereabouts, but each time, his directions were so vague (like 'at the gate' when there are two gates...) I really didn't know where he was.

Until he said 'gantry'. Okay. That one, I understood.

We stayed there for a while waiting for him. I called my home and my mother reported that my father had already left to pick us up.

When I turned around, I found my brother standing behind my sis (who was behind me) and he was holding this can of Milk Coffee in his hands. The Milk Coffee was the best! It was creamy and tasted a lot like Chocolate Milk!

You know, there WERE buses after midnight...so we didn't actually have to get my father to come, but it WOULD be more comfortable in a car...

My father told my brother to go to the bus stop, so we did. It was just a few meters away...

We stood there for a while. There was a car behind a double decker bus, and I asked if that could be our car, when my sister said, "Cannot be lah. It's white."

Turns out it WAS our car...

*laughs at sister with a sinister grin*

At home, we downed the last of my mother's birthday cake, changed into sleeping attire, and slept.

Oh, did you know my sister was complaining about her legs getting cramps? I've got a feeling that if she were a little MORE enthusiastic about the serivce she wouldn't feel a thing because God's Holy presence would heal her...
