Flashing Gravestone

Met up extremely reluctantly at school for Bio PT discussion because we really needed it. Haven't even started even though it's been almost a month...oh goodness...

Spent hours finalizing the details of our creatures figuring out the relationships etc. Wait, it was only one hour. Hm, time seemed to drag on while we sat at a non-sticky, non-bird shit infested, and non-warm table. Anabelle's criteria, my choice.

We then trooped down to Bras Basah (sp?) and scrambled all over the place, finally patronizing Art Friend for an hour searching for suitable materials and sorting out what styrofoam thingy is better for each creature after looking around Popular and reserving 2 styrofoam sheets which we thought were expensive but turned out extremely cheap in comparison to the others sold in the area.

I'm pretty happy with my purchase, but I spent the most at S$10.55...yikes.

I have screwed up 27% of my life (liar, I screwed up at least 80%...)

Tagged by Isaac. Seriously. Of all people, me? I'm one of the most boring persons...anyway, here goes nothing.

Percentage of my life I had turned into a jumbled mess:

[ ] Gotten detention. (goodness no!)
[ ] Gotten your phone taken away in class. (ha, you wish)
[ ] Gotten suspended. (no way. Ever. But it would be fun to miss a day of school...)
[ ] Gotten caught chewing gum. (uh...no chewing gum ever made it out of my house unless they're gonna be incinerated...)
[ ] Gotten caught cheating on a test. (too pure, too pure)
Total: 0

[ ] Arrived late to class more than 5 times. (hmm, maybe I have...but I can't be sure. It's usually Bio cuz it's either in the lab or after PE...)
[X] Didn’t do homework over 5 times (c'mon, don't tell me you've NEVER...)
[ ] Turned at least 3 projects in late (ha, I'm too nerd for that...but Bio PT may just be turned in late...)
[ ] Missed school cause you felt like it. (what the?)
[ ] Laughed so loud you got kicked out of class. (lol. I'd like that...but what's there to laugh at? Chinese teacher's dress sense? Actually, I'd get quite a kick out of that, yeah...)
Total : 1

[ ] Got your mom / dad etc. to get you out of school. (I wish I were sick enough or had lesser pride than I do to skip school because of a terrible stomachache...)
[ ] Texted people during class. (Miss PIT Anabelle will book me for that. She's sitting right in front of me. *gag*)
[X] Passed notes. (acted as the go-between for Moira and Rachel...)
[ ] Threw stuff across the room. (like what? Paper pellets?)
[ ] Laughed at the teacher. (that'll be awesome...)
Total : 2

[ ] Pulled down the Fire Alarm. (go die. I'll get a straight SOM for that, I think)
[ ] Went on Myspace , Facebook , Xanga , etc. on the computer at school. (how come I never knew I had an account?)
[X] Took Pictures during school hours. (oh yeah, during ICT when we played with the Macs...)
[ ] Called someone during School hours.
[X] Listened to an iPod , CD , etc... During class. (oh! Back in Rosyth after PSLE. Too slack to do anything at all...)
Total : 4

[ ] Threw something at the teacher (I'll DIE)
[ ] Went outside the classroom without permission. (what the...)
[X] Broke the dress code. (oh yes I did. I forgot to bring my name tag and got booked. But hey! It's not my fault my memory got loose when I was a baby!)
[X] Failed a class. (ooh, you won't believe how many times I've failed it...)
[ ] Ate food during class. (during History. Miss Syazwani allowed it. Boring question...)
Total : 6

[ ] Gotten a call from school. (uh...)
[ ] Couldn’t go on a field trip cause you behaved badly. (do we even have field trips in RGS?)
[X] Didn’t take your stuff to school. (gah, happens all the time cuz my memory just sucks...almost had to 背诵诗 (did I use the correct words?)...brr.)
[ ] Gotten a detention and didn't go. (ha! never got booked more than once in each category before...)
[ ] Stuck up your middle finger at a teacher when they were not looking. (goodness no! I could never do that! It's too unholy!)
[ ] Cursed during class loud enough so the teacher could hear (*raises eyebrow*)
Total : 7

[X] Faked your parents signature (ooh, I did that once in P2 when I was so afraid of being reprimanded for terrible 听写 grades...)
[ ] Slept in class. (almost. You won't believe how boring Geog was...maybe it was just the teacher factor...)
[ ] Cursed at a teacher to their face. (*gasps*)
[X] Copied homework (all the time. Nothing new. Mostly Maths from Rachel.)
Total: 9

take your answer x3

9x3=27

I have screwed up 27% of my life! (Er...tell me it's inaccurate...I thought most of my life was one whole screwy mess...)

repost as: I have screwed up ___% of my life

Pandora's Titanic

Yesterday was a fairly normal school day with the exception of the fact that I said the s-word. *grabs head and screams the life out of herself*

It was during SAFMC meeting (we had another today) and I was dealing with some image stuff that required (if I remembered correctly) slightly more than a truckload full of patience, but I'm used to it. Anyway, somehow, the conversation led to pre-marital s**, but someone pronounced it wrongly, so I, being the ignorant stuck-up idiot I was, corrected them and actually said 'pre-marital s**' out loud...

*gasp*

It took me a while before it registered in my head what I had just said, which resulted in a very delayed 'Oh my gosh! I just said the s-word!'. Mel piped up that I had matured, and I shot her a look that plainly stated, "No freaking way. That was SO immature." But of course, the room was dark (we were somehow using the redundant projecter and enlarging our faces so huge you could actually count the number of black heads on my nose (kidding, the most is just the pimples).

DIE, YOU FREAKING IDIOTS! WHO TOLD YOU TO MAKE ME SAY THE S-WORD?!

Oh, that aside, today, I left SAFMC meeting early because I rescheduled the meeting with my church adult leader who had so awesomely decided to get off at Anderson Sec and ended up at the wrong school...whoever told her Anderson Sec and Anderson Road were in the same vacinity?

Anyway, so our meeting was delayed by at least 45 minutes as we tried desperately to clear up the confusion that didn't register until my leader told me she was at Anderson Sec...

During that period of waiting for her, I realized I had forgotten my jacket. My so terribly pink yet reliable and comfortable jacket, so I SMSed Rachel desperately, who told me that she had already left. Then I SMSed Fish after a while. She brought the jacket down for me, although she was on the other side of the Bus Stop Gate (as in in school still) while I was outside, so we had to throw the jacket over the fence. Lol. That was fairly cool.

So my adult leader and I met up, decided to take a trip to Far East and settle for lunch at KFC (where I had a pathetic but free meal of Shrooms Burger) and chatted for what seemed like...um...2 hours, though it was probably only 1. At KFC, I met Sophia and her friend. Sophia thought the adult leader was my mum...and the adult leader would burst into random crying fits when she remembers it. Pretty hysterical, if I should say so myself. XD

Bloody Teddy

I"M SO GONNA FAIL MY HISTORY!!! NOOO!!!

Maybe I'm a bit too hysterical right now...anyway, SAs were today, and I kind of totally screwed them up.

This morning on the school bus, I started experiencing stomachaches, which then developed to become more frequent before morning assembly, forcing me to...uh...use the toilet, to put it most nicely, or some might find it crude to the point of it being gross...

That aside, I spent the rest of morning assembly personifying a zombie that died, rose again, died, rose again, died, rose again, died, well, you get the point. I was pretty much a shell of what I usually am. Stupid, isn't it, what stomachaches can do to a person? Or am I just a tad more fragile than most people when it comes to gastric issues?

It surprises me to say, but with every exam that passed a little of what I was before is being revived. The E.Lit SA wasn't too bad, but I got stuck trying to figure out what 'diction' meant even though the meaning was staring right at me at point blank. Stupid, idiotic me. I spent the next 'long while' pondering on the first question, then deciding to write just what comes to my mind, thus hastening the process. Now isn't that nice, a rushed essay?

Well, after the exam, I felt a little more rejuvenated, though why, I am extremely curious to find out myself. It is not often that an exam perks one up, is it? Perphaps it was due to the restriction placed on my movements that allowed the 'life' to be cooped up so tightly they kinda burst into fireworks when the teacher said we could go.

Chinese came after recess which followed E.Lit. Terrible, I tell you, but for odd reasons absolutely well disguised from my awesome knowledge (no kidding, my mind HAS to be awesome to have exams perk me up...), even the lousy Chinese paper SUCEEDED in lifting my spirits by a bunch. Goodness, the apoccalypse has come...or at least taken a step nearer.

I felt the Chinese paper was easier than the practice papers, but that doesn't mean I'd get better grades, yes? Because for strange and magnificent reasons, I have so conveniently forgot how to write even the most basic 'xiao4 shun4' and 'ping3 (or is it pin3?) de2'. This is just great.

And did anyone ever get the feeling that you were writing a Lit essay while doing History? If yes, join the club. I have absolutely no idea what happened back there. Goodness, what kind of format did I use for History? I kept quoting the sources and wrote 'the readers would' for one of the elaborations (but of course, that was duly cancelled when I had noticed it [much to my distraught horror])! Aren't I just remarkable?

When the teacher let us go (FINALLY), I found out through subtle discussions with Rachel and the gang that I had so marvelously misinterpreted both questions 1 and 3. Wow, I have most definitely reached the peak of my education...gag. But seriously, who can be so stupid as to misread those stupid questions when they are so blatantly printed out in black on white?

No, wait, let me answer that question. Ans: Me. I'm not wrong, am I? Goodness knows what I've been doing all that time...eveything passed by as a blur and I am so sure I totally flunked History. Hey, if I even got a D for it, that would have been positively spiffing!

During lunch which came after History, Rachel mentioned that I was like a possessed person during morning assembly, looked like the living dead, she probably implied. I disputed immediately by saying that the me that I am now (the hyper-active one that anyone would simply love to get rid of) is the possessed one. You should see how black my face looked in my kindergarten graduation photo...far cry from the P1 one on my EZ-link...

Ugh.

Black Hearts; Black Minds

I CAN"T BELIEVE I FORGOT TO POST ON MY BIRTHDAY!!! Damn. That sucks.

Oops. If there were my ballet class, I'd have lost at least 10 cents... the teacher suggested to have a 'swear jar' so that whenever someone sweared or cursed, we'd have to plonk 10 cents in. She came up with the idea when I kept exclaiming the same thing over and over again whenever I made a mistake (because I can't remember the steps)...

Argh.

Anyway, yesterday, my brother gave me 'Manga Messiah' for my birthday! It's a manga version of the bible, revolving around Jesus' life, so it's basically all adapted from the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. WAH! JESUS IS SO COOL! I saw it in the Funky B branch at my church and was totally attracted to it, probably because it's a manga, and a Christian one at that! How cool is that? I've always though the bible was boring, but hey, it's interesting now in this format!

"I now dub the book the 'MV', Manga Version!" You know, there's the NIV (New International Version), NKJ (New King James) etc. etc...

It's so awesome the way he makes his initial appearance. XD I'm a sucker for him now. He's the cool type of character, a bit cheerful, but mostly silent and definitely wise and upright. He's the perfect man, human, being, entity, whatever. He's too kind for his own good...but I probably shouldn't say this because without his sacrifice, I would likely end up in hell...ugh...

It's a bit westernized (what with all the colours), but still a great read for Christians who simply love manga, or even pre-believers! But if they read it before they read the bible, instead of finding 'Manga Messiah' interesting like I did, they'd find the bible boring...do you see the difference in the way we look at things? All my life I've known the bible, and then this book crops out and makes all Jesus does even more interesting, but pre-believers would find the bible dull in comparison to Manga Messiah and may lose interest.

DO YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE? It's hard to put in words...I'm no good with them...I hate toying with words, finding new expressions...(Anabelle's good at it, especially if she's writing about erotic stuff...eww...)

MANGA MESSIAH!

*for the first time ever fangirls*

Manga Recommendation (XIII)

Title: Asklepios
Length: 19 Chapters
Mangaka: Uchimizu Touru

Medil, a family regarded as heretics by the local churches due to their methods of healing - surgery.

Biblos, a book in which the Medils have their patients sign their name in blood on. They have been told that when the book is filled with signatures, the church would recognize them as doctors.

Buzz is a boy who had been separated from his father for 2 years. Living in fear of being captured and killed, he initally refused his father's assistant's company as a bodyguard.

Rosary has been serving Thug Medil ever since her family was killed in the process of protecting the doctor. Her family has always served the Medils, assisting them in filling the Biblos.

Pare is a man Rosary and Buzz met at the beginning of the story who aspires to be surgeon. He originally believes that surgeons require strength and mocks Buzz, but changes his mind when Buzz reattached his arm after it was severed under a carraige wheel.

The story follows Buzz and his companions as he attempts to dodge from the Holy Knights (elite men of the church trained to fight) yet at the same time save lives under extreme situations, one including the lack of proper facilities resorting to the use of a pair of spectacles as his only tool.

Buzz has always been a coward, but faced with such circumstances after Pare was killed while defending him, what should he do?

Mad-Eye-Moody Revived

It was only moments after I had settled down in my seat that AY entered through the back door and passed me a plastic bag of sorts. Looking at her questioningly, she replied that it was an early birthday gift. Of course, I was very excited. I didn't get anything for her birthday and yet she was giving me something, and somewhere deep down, I felt extremely guilty.

I opened the paper bag in the plastic bag and found a handphone accessory in the shape of a Ferrero Rocher. Estatic would be a serious understatement. I mean, hello, FERRERO ROCHER. Chocolate, gold foil, brown paper 'cup' striked gold.

"THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!" No one could fathom how happy I was. On the way to assembly, I wondered why I seemed to have a fetish for fake food, miniaturized objects (yes, you could give me a mini bin the size of my thumb and I would be extremely happy), anything that is an imitation of the real but not meant to do what the real does (like some brands tried to copy the iPod *rolls eyes*). I can't explain it.

Then during recess, Moira purchased a mood ring (I didn't exactly know it was a mood ring, and neither Moira nor Rachel did either) and gave it to me, claiming that I like black so it would be a good present. I placed it on my thumb, seeing as how it wouldn't fit on any of the other fingers. In fact, it wouldn't fit properly on my thumb either, but it was the best place to put it so it went there.

During lessons, I took it off, and was entirely surprised by the fact that it turned black. When I picked it up and placed it on my finger, it started melting into green. I asked Rachel to try it out, and the same happened. Mood ring? That's so cool! I saw some in the Science Center's gift shop and wanted one but my parents wouldn't buy it. Now I own one and I'm so happy!

S&D was just before lunch. Zann and I came up with a story.

Me: When I came home last night, I saw an extra pair of shoes that didn't belong to anyone in the family, anyone I recognized.

Zann: I thought it was the suspect on the news from last night.

Me: From deep within the house, I heard a squeaking sound that didn't sound like my father, my mother, my brother, my sister, or anything in the house at all.

Zann: Slowly, I crept stealthily toward where I thought the sound came from and saw a bright light...

It kind of ended there because we kept changing stories so many times (the first was about Zann's cousin's 21st B-day) we had barely any time left. Miss Tay said she like our story, the way we built up suspense. Zann and I have very different line of thoughts. I go for the spooky, she goes for the cheerful, which I frankly find a bit annoying since we're going on about different things. She wanted the squeak to come from a hamster, but I wanted a burglar at least, if not a cannibal who had blood dripping off his lips while gripping onto the person's brother whose white of the eyes were the only part of the eyeball seen and was deathly pale and bleeding profusely.

It is kind of creepy, but I'll have loved that. Hopefully, if we continued the story, Zann wouldn't have concluded with a HAMSTER. Of all things...

Geography came along as the last lesson and those in my row, namely Rachel, Moira and I were forced to act as women of child-bearing age. I was a nervous wreck, seeing as how I totally couldn't say 'my husband' without puking, so Rachel went first, then Moira. Moira did a really short one.

When it was my turn, I felt my face heat up. I mean, if someone asks you to pretend you have a husband and two kids when you don't at all, how would YOU react? I tried my best to give a straight face and started in a trembling voice. I didn't know what came over me, but I wanted to cry. Maybe it was empathy? Everything I said felt so real.

I was portraying a lady from China who had her second child and refused to abort it, and was thus fined a heavy sum. I intended to include that last part and the fact that the husband lost his job due to a request for one year lump sum paycheck, but it slipped my mind. Following that, I mentioned that the husband didn't like the fact that both children were female, and every night when he comes home, he smelled of ladies perfume I never recognized.

Rachel said I was very 'drama'. It was fun. I wouldn't mind doing it again. XD

200 Roses for the Funeral

We went to the art museum together with the SAP students for Aesthetics, got together with Kimberly, didn't spend much time with AY (NOOO!). The western contemporary arts were cool, and I especially liked the one with the shelves of everyday objects in shades of primary colours, but the Asian artists were better.

The artist who drew raindrops or water droplets was really cool. And there was another guy who painted a splotch of black ink with a paintbrush over it and it was extremely realistic. Over at the opposite wall was an artwork of mixed medium, painted sand on canvas and the blocks painted really look like they were 3D. We then met this artwork which was a screen of traditional paintings backlit by lights that depicted city dwellings. The roaming lights of the city actually ROAMED and the snow actually FELL. It was awesome.

Art club today was pretty much to orientate the Sec 1s, played some games I extremely detested, but it was overall pretty fun.

Gamer's Galore

Ha! That's alliteration for you!

Anyway, quit NASA thing team. No, wait, it's more like kick out, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't relieved. Originally, I was totally attracted to it, but team discussions were dull and boring, and so much was done while I wasn't around that I couldn't keep up and lost track of it all. My interest started spiralling down.

It wasn't that the concepts weren't fun or anything, but I get the feeling that the other teammates didn't actually want me there, so I was EXTREMELY tentative about giving ideas, thus I barely formed any in my mind. I'm not too open with them, so I didn't seek to clarify since I didn't want to strain the relationship any further (and get them annoyed with me).

I'm more of the ideas type, so if you ever want a report, DON"T EVER COME TO ME. I can provide some things during discussions, but I'm terrible at putting them down in words. I think of strange technologies that might not always work, so I hesitate at contributing since I may be called stupid for even considering such a contraption...and considering the team's level of seriousness, I can't say I fit in very well, so I don't exactly put my best since they've really dampened my enthusiasm for the project...

Not saying it's their fault. It's actually mine for being so vulnerable to what people think. Can't blame them for firing me...ever since the first meeting, where I felt like a total outcast when they started chatting together and had quite hostile looks on their faces, I felt like totally backing out. I didn't belong, and I didn't like it. I would have much preferred to work with Rachel and Moira.

So when they actually came over to tell me I was fired, I had this strange joy within me. A mix of disappointment (in myself for not being able to live up to the standard) but also happiness since I was FINALLY able to work with people I enjoy being with and therefore might actually end up liking the topic we're working on even though I originally hate it.

It's something like SAFMC. I wasn't exactly enthu about it at first, but Sophia rubbed off onto me. No one forced me to do reports and I was able to contribute freely during the discussions with no fear that I may be looked on upon as a burden (since everybody was absolutely clueless about planes as well). I guess that's what made me come to enjoy being in SAFMC.

The sense of fulfillment, achievement, and absolute joy of having our plane fly over 15m was amazing. The people accepted me as someone who had troubles handling responsiblity and thus delegated the tasks accordingly, and I was able to stick to simply drawing. I didn't fear a glare from anyone as they always turned out to be light and carried lack of a grudge.

The atmosphere while discussing with the NASA team was suffocating. I was a total stranger among them. I was never in their class, and I knew barely a thing about them except for the totally non-personal things, like which class, their name, CCA, etc. I mean, if you were suddenly expected to work with strangers, wouldn't you feel extremely uneasy too?

So Sophia's love for planes and her effort put into making slides and taking time to explain to us personally with quite a genuine smile made me start to look forward to the meetings (though it really wasted quite a lot of time). We were actually quite pressed for time, but it was fun to be able to joke about with friends and familiar faces as we set about making the planes.

It couldn't have been any better than that. Teamwork, chemistry (not in the romantic sense) between team members, the common affinity for each other, being able to understand each other's needs, I couldn't have wished for more. It would be really sad to see the team dismantle once the competition was over. I would have really loved to stay in that group. Sophia was a great team leader, and Mel could always be relied on to buy materials. Rachel and Chun Hui pretty much did their assigned jobs as well. If I should speak my mind, I'd say I did the least...

I don't really deserve such great fellowship as my attitude is seriously bad, but maybe, just maybe, God set this up so he could show me that friendship should be priced over personal interests, that I would find more joy and satisfaction in working with friends whom I can share my thoughts openly with instead of mere strangers on a topic I initially loved but later came to dislike due to a lack of communication between team members.

Comparing the two teams, I love the SAFMC one much better. It was warm, the NASA one was cold, almost too studious and serious. Everything was about books. They excluded me from the fun stuff, making me ponder about administrative matters while they drew the rough blueprint (well, not exactly) for the space settlement. It really got on my nerves, I guess, but they just probably didn't know me well enough to understand that I really hated these kind of work. I was just simply jealous of the fact that they got to actually draw while I got stuck thinking of boring things...well, boring for me. I like thinking of technologies better.

It was highly due to the lack of understanding that led to the break up of the team (er...well, on my part, at least) since I was forced to do something I wasn't good at, and that was probably why they weren't too happy with me for not being up to standard with their expectations, which were undoubtedly too high for me as I absolutely do not have the ability to focus more than a minute on admin matters. I much prefer solving creative problems of how to keep the outgassed plastic, though the idea was given the cold shoulder (but I personally thought it was quite good).

They did ask me for my opinion on occassions, but that was while they were already sure of what they wanted and probably did that to make me feel less excluded, though I might say it's a bit too late...but once again, it's not their fault. I'm just sensitive to that area. Can't help but allow myself to totally dread the meetings.

SAFMC meetings were fun. We suddenly found out that we were extremely ahead of the rest of the teams in November, so we had time to slack for almost a month. Coming January, we started work on our plane again, and by a lucky modification, had it fly for a long distance. SUCCESS! I felt the joy in that, because I was a part of it, I actually contributed much to the plane as I did about half the practical job of building it. That feeling of inclusion cannot be rivalled. I have a feeling that even we might be chosen for the NASA, I would never feel this pride in myself and be able to call it 'my project'.

I want to be looked at as 'Rachelle, human with desires, interests and dislikes, ponderer of lame stuff (like how the chocolate filling gets into the Hello Panda biscuits)' instead of 'Rachelle, tool for typing reports'. I have a life. I need a life. I want a life. I am a life. I have the right to choose, I have the right to decide, I have the right to do what I want to do. I have the right to be who I am - me.

I have finally concluded that I have some sort of an identity crisis (a very mild one), when this song came into my mind:
Majesty, majesty
Your grace has found me just as I am
Empty handed but alive in your hands...

I barely know who I am, I don't know what I like, but I do know what I don't. And God knows all of me, he knows me better than anyone else in this world does. If being in a dark attic with a group of people makes you feel creeped out and cold, you know you're not comfortable around them, but even if the situation is dire and you still rely on that group of people for assurance, then you enjoy their company.

Only God knows how much I more I love the SAFMC team than the NASA one...even though both are about technical work of leaving the Earth, they are completely different when it comes to the team make up, and I guess that's what I like about the SAFMC team, and that was what made the world of a difference between the two.

SAFMC ALL THE WAY!

Squashed Jelly

I lost the bear Rachel gave to me for my birthday almost 2 years ago...aww man, that sucks. I ran around looking for it. I'm pretty sure it's somewhere around the J-block and canteen area, but I couldn't find it! If anyone sees a little bear dressed in a vest with an outee belly button hung on a string that has lost its elasticity from its head, please tell me! It's kind of an in between of yellow and brown. The string is brown. The bear's kinda dirty.

Anyway, my computer located some viruses on itself and it took over an hour to scan through the whole computer, only to find that the viruses came from the later checked documents, folders, files, etc. Argh, frustrating. Trojan horse some more...but since I'm here typing, you can safely assume that my computer is fully healed (unless you have suspicions of me sneaking on my father's laptop).

It's been a bad day for me. So many terrible happenings.

And on the way home, at the half mark, it started raining so suddenly. I was walking under the last tree before the bend when I felt something fall on my head. I felt it, thinking it was a leaf (the option of a bird shit hadn't crossed my mind yet...), but felt nothing. Then I walked on. Two steps later, the unmistakable sound of falling rain/drizzle registered in my ears. Two more steps, and I tried to take out my umbrella. Another two steps and I had it out fully. Thank goodness it didn't disconnect that time round.

The next two steps would have seen heavy rains. About ten to twenty meters from my home, it was reduced to a light drizzle. When I got home, the rain stopped. How pathetic is that? Why couldn't it have stopped before I got off the bus? No, wait, why couldn't it have started after I got home?

I usually turn on the lights above my computer if it gets too dark, and the standard time is 17:00, but the amount of sunlight shining through today kept fluctuating so much. It was so annoying, because one moment it was totally silent, then the next it started raining heavily, and a few seconds later the skies parted and gave way to the bright sun. What the heck?

Judo with Air

Soooo long since I last posted. It's the last day of January.

There were lots of things I wanted to say, but who cares. WeiQi is hard. A few problems online got me so hooked, but it's still hard. I'm stuck at elementary. I can solve...say...35% of the questions, but I can also do 2% of the intermediate questions I attempted! Okay, that's really bad, but still. I only finally grasped the basics 2 days ago...

It's quite good that I'm at least a 19-kyu now...in 2 days! Wow! Can't wait to rise till amateur 1-dan, but that'a far way off...I've only solved problems and haven't really applied the skill to real games yet...anyway, it's only on the net for fun...if it's fun...I'm just hooked to the problems, dunno why...I keep getting crushed as I go up...only half-way through the problems for 20-kyu to 18-kyu and I've already got half wrong...

It's freakishly hard to read ahead. I felt like dying. No, wait, stop about WeiQi, move on to my life.

School sucked. Got Bio PT yesterday. I remembered there was once that I wrote 'Biography' when I meant to write 'Biology'. Felt so stupid...

I hope I get to be...hmm, what would be the easiest to build? Animal? Decomposer? Plant? Planet Zork sure is strange. There's no seasons at all? If one side was hot, then the opposite side would be cold, wouldn't it? There couldn't be, say 16 hours of day and 8 hours of night on one side and the other also has 16 hours of day and 8 hours of night?? That's impossible!

I wonder how many suns there are in that Solar System...*get's knocked out*

Zorkian: $@09q#%&)@(q!#53@q@2@$)$#@$)$%^#%&_*$@_%#(@@!)__$^=634==! (roughly translated into 'How dare you say that! Our planet just has a unique shape, not like your boring round Mars!')

...Who told him (it?) we came from Mars?

Erasing the Trails of Time

Yesterday, I got stuck with a bunch of screaming girls watching 'He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not", a French movie.

The story starts of will Angelique buying a rose for Dr. Loic Garrec through delivery, allowing the audience to grasp that Angelique has romantic feelings toward Loic (pronounced lu-ik), and by him accepting the rose, strengthens the audience's belief that Loic reciprocates it and they are dating.

Further on in the movie, Angelique reports to her friend, Heloise (pronounced hair-lu-is), that Loic is going to leave his 5 months pregnant wife for her.

Angelique is estatic when she learns that Loic intends to take her to Florence on a trip, but dispaired when he didn't show up at the airport.

That night, Loic proceeds to Angelique's house and begins calling out to her and banging her door, not missing the doorbell. Angelique, still at the airport feeling depressed, never learns of this.

A few days later, Angelique's friend, David (who appears to like her), confronts Loic, demanding the reason to why he played with her. Loic puts on a confused face, then gets pissed and with mock politeness, chased him out of his office.

It is later reported that someone had accused Loic of assault, and Angelique goes to 'quieten' her up.

After a few more mind-blowing incidents, Angelique resorts to suicide. She turns on the gas and lay herself down, consuming herself with her thoughts and memories about when she sent anonymous gifts (mostly portraying Loic) to Loic at random times, going as far as to give him a duplicate of her key.

A rewind occurs.

This time, the story is replayed from Loic's point of view, revealing that the relationship between him and Angelique was just simply part of Angelique's demented illusion. She is diagnosed with a mental problem and sent to a psychiatrist.

A few years later, she was released, finally deemed sane enough.

Back at her old room, a cleaner sets out to prepare her room for the next occupant, he finds a collage of pills stuck to the back of the closet that formed the shape of Loic.

The movie kind of has a really good title. 'He Loves Me' fits Angelique's delusion, but 'He Loves Me Not' is the harsh reality she finds out later, as suggested by the arrangement by putting 'He Loves Me' first. =D

Anyway, today, I watched China's Lost Girls. Those stupid Chinese. If they didn't have any girls, how could their sons carry on the family name if they couldn't have children?

INJUSTICE!

I've said so much. See you!

Bottle in a Tin

On Tuesday, I saw a lizard with its head buried in a rolled up plaster. I made to remove the plaster, but the lizard wiggle so much that I left it alone.

Ugh. I hate pests, but I'm a nice person, so I tried to help it. The tail was gone, and where the tail should be was a stub of red blood.

Eww.

La di da, the days went on as per normal, though a little dash of Chinese here and there was scary.

I'm not done with the Chinese homework yet. A few more questions to go.

I WANT NO MORE HOMEWORK! Why are teachers so horrible?

Minnie Mouse is a Vixen with a Short Snout, Round Ears, and an Ugly Pink Ribbon

It's been a long time since I last posted.

Yes, it's been a while.

Today (I think it was today), I had a stomachache so I needed to use the toilet. I fled from the parade square when we were released, not forgetting to tell someone that I was in the toilet in case a teacher asked.

I sat for about 5 minutes, then I went off on my way. I forgot that the block I was in was D block, not E block, and opened the door of the classroom 2nd from the toilet on the 3rd floor.

I almost died with shock when I saw that I didn't recognize anybody.

Muttering an apology, I realized where my mistake was (literally), and thankfully, the teacher hadn't arrived yet...

You know, the previous night, I read the timetable for the wrong week and thought there was History today...

Almost wanted to rip something apart when I heard we had Lit/English.

Argh.

I like the poems at the end though. =D

Recess was super rushed. We only had 10 minutes left when we went down. I was too busy trying to finish my Chinese worksheet (which we all found out later, much to our horror, did not need to be done).

Yesterday, I was brought bread to school (I did so today too), but I accidentally dropped a slice on the bus...oops...

Well, it was a school bus, and almost pitch black right behind the driver's seat, so I doubt he noticed.

Pasting Roses on Grids

How the heck do you spell 'pasting' as in to paste? I've got a feeling it's either 'pasteing' or 'pasting'...

Anyway.

Friday, launcher trials. One hell of a time staring at that sudden lucked out 15++ meters flown by the small glider.

I was left in charge of the glider that's incomplete. I can't find a way to fix it (or make it better) so I dismantled it and left it alone.

Well, I dismantled it BEFORE I headed home.

Oh, did you know, on the bus that evening, I've heard more F-words than I have in my whole life.

Just a few stops after I boarded, 4 boys got on (about 17-19). Their hair was cool. Many different styles and textures, the rigidness also differed.

Ah, sidetracking. I thought they were just a bunch of normal boys, then they started shooting F-words off at almost everything.

So many uses which I've never even HEARD of before (but of course, that's a given, since I'm trying to stay away from stuff like that...).

Freakzoids. Uh, that's a word I use whenever I feel that the F-word is at the tip of my mind. Just something that starts with F but doesn't end with a 'uck', at least, not like Firetruck does...

They got off a little before Far East. Someone called one of the guys, and gathering from whatever I heard, he was trying to make the caller believe that he was still in the lecture room (though I think the rumble of the bus should give him away...).

He passed the phone to another of the boys with the excuse that the lecturer wanted to speak to the caller for interrupting the class.

The whole conversation was more or less about stuff I should stay away from...and the format too...

+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+

Yesterday I drew Sai in realistic form. Well, as realistic as I can. It's the 2nd time I tried drawing a full-face realistic style. No, wait. It's the 3rd. 1st time was when I did a portrait of myself 2 years back. It didn't look half bad.

Just a little while back, about half a week, I got really interested in drawing realistic style (I don't know why) so I started with the eyes. I just have a fascination for eyes that can't be matched with the rest of the body parts...

Hm, yeah, so when I was done with the eyes, the most logical thing to do next would be the eyebrows. I usually draw only one eye. I have a problem doing symmetrical things.

Then yesterday, I read a fan fiction about Hikaru no Go, where the main character, Hikaru, picks up drawing as a side interest to 'immortalize' Sai, a ghost which disappeared when Hikaru was from another timeline.

It goes like this: Hikaru got possessed by a ghost called Sai. Sai loved Go a lot, and Hikaru came to love it too, so much that he almost denied Sai the right to play through him. Gradually, Sai felt that he was going to disappear, but Hikaru, too caught up with himself, didn't bother.

Sai finally disappeared while playing a game with Hikaru. Hikaru goes to Shuusaku's grave to look for Sai. Shuusaku was the previous person Sai possessed, and he too was a talented Go player. Together, they made history.

Hikaru kept praying to god that time would go back, and god answered by returning him back to the past. Hikaru started treasuring so much he wanted to keep every single bit of him, so he picked up drawing to 'immortalize' Sai within pictures.

He went about other ways too, but I won't elaborate.

It was somewhere in the middle of the story when a principal of an art school chanced upon Hikaru's sketches of Sai, and he was amazed that Hikaru didn't draw manga-like people, but what seemed more like reality.

So then I got the inspiration to draw Sai realistically!

I must say, I'm very proud of it. =D

It didn't quite look like him, but it was realistic enough.

I'm going to work on realistic drawings! Yosh!

+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+

Church. Service. Denied of drawing rights. Well, actually, I drew a little between Fuel and service. Quite a nice drawing of a lady too. That was my 5th. I attempted another one, but I figured the eyes were too far apart, and since I left my eraser at home, I scrapped the drawing.

The 4th drawing really looked freaky...

And From the Sky Fell a Cookie

Uh...launcher trials...we didn't do as bad as I had expected. Quite good, on the contrary.

12m...

Well, but it's a little depressing seeing that other teams had gotten theirs to fly over 20m...

We did a little modification here and there, and finally concluded that the smaller plane flew the best, and also when it was not improved...

The improvements just made it worse, ironically.

Today's bag was so heavy. My shoulders ached just from holding the bag in my hands.

I chucked my files under the school desk, bought the Chinese textbooks, and...uh...I don't remember anything else that needs attention.

Space Pig

Speaking of coincidences.

Just yesterday, I met my brother while coming back from school myself for the first time. We always arrive home one after the other, never together.

It felt kind of strange, but having company is nice.

Then today, also while walking home (but this time not quite in my house area), Rachel's mother called out to me while I was walking along a pavement and they were halted due to the red light.

Amazing how something so small like a gesture of acknowledgement can make me happy...

Today was just hectic. Files, journals, worksheets, not to mention I brought a jacket to school today. It was maroonish, but others refer to it as pink, so they really couldn't imagine that I was actually the owner of it.

Mel thought that it was Rachel's, and I borrowed it from her.

Well, it was given to me from an aunt, it'd be rude to not accept it, also, the material makes the jacket very warm. I like it. =D

Usually I go for comfort, looks comes second, unless, of course, the garment is frilly, cut out of girly pink cloth, and has a design too...feminine for my taste.

If you ever chance upon me in a shopping center, you're very, very lucky. I really dislike shopping. My mother never bought any of those clothes that I want.

Hmm, considering that my taste is really different from what my mother hopes it'll be, I guess it's understandable. I go for clothes that are loose fitting, so I'm more attracted to those for guys, which also have better designs, most of the time.

Once, in Bosini, I saw this emo looking one and wanted it a lot, but my mother turned me down because she wanted me to get more feminine clothes...

Erk.

Art and design module was interesting. It was like Art Club squeezed into 3 hours. The pace was a bit fast, but I could keep up. I think.

Mr. Wong kept picking on me just because I'm from the Art Club and so was he.

Herm.

We revisited inverted drawings, simple solids penned on paper, and drawing using a view finder (though I left the view finder aside and drew from what I saw without grids cause we didn't have enough pens).

I drew the way people hold Go stones, but from the front view, it actually looks like the person is pointing his or her middle finger...

Sigh...

Clinging onto Moonlight

02.01.09 : Friday

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! I can't believe I'm reporting about this so late...anyway, we discussed SAFMC project after school.

School was a bore. Talks, and teachers. I think I've had enough last year...

SAFMC discussion was FUN! We totally slacked, talked a lot about manga (well, at least me and Mel did). Rachel and Anabelle weren't there.

Man. They've missed out.

We talked about stuff. Like rebuilding the glider, what are we going to consider when we rebuild it and the likes.

Went home via bus from school for the first time in what seems like a million sheeps that have jumped over the wall.

Talked to Mel on the bus home. Introduced her to some Hikaru no Go fan fiction.

02.01.09 : Saturday

No ballet classes. Slept till 13:00. My parents and my brother have already left for my sister's (miserable) scholarship awarding ceremony of (a meager amount of) $250.

I feel so proud of myself.

Anyway, I was actually awake when they tried to wake me up at around 08:00 or so (didn't really check my watch, too busy trying to feign sleep). I wanted to sleep more, so I didn't wake up.

Frankly, I didn't remember that it was my sister's 'special' day until I was fully awake at 13:30.

My mother caught me drooling in bed and handed me some tissue while I was asleep...

When I woke up, I tried the piano. Hadn't played it in a few days. I was trying to get this part of the song right on my own...

At night, we hiked at AMK Hub area to find a pair of jeans for my brother (which I think never existed...) and get some groceries.

03.01.09 : Sunday

CHURCH! We (me and my sis) got to church by 08:40. We were told to get our butts there by 08:45. Guess we came a little early.

So anyway, I just sat and read manga. Until they called me over and we went out of church to play games/ice breakers.

The current Sec1s were newly assimilated into the cell groups, and the current Sec2s were also kinda shuffled.

After this game of stick-the-newspaper-balls-on-other-team's-masking-tape-mummy(-that-didn't-look-like-a-mummy-at-all-with-only-3-layers-of-tape-wrapped-around-the-torso), we played captains ball.

I played at my group's side of the field most of the time. But sometimes, I just ran over because I thought the others needed help (the balls kept getting intercepted!!! I guess my team is just made up of short people...).

They just ignored me!!!

I tried being captain, caught about 2-3 balls, then resumed my original role.

I was somehow picked out of the crowd and congratulated for trying to score. Dunno why. I was like: I'm very glad to be appreciated, but I didn't do anything AT ALL.

After that was the same old.

04.01.09 : Monday

ARGH!!! SCHOOL! Uh... we spent the whole teacher-student interaction time playing that time bomb thing.

I really hate games. They pump up my adrenaline, and I don't really like it. My heart just feels like jumping out of my chest when I play games...

I took extra notice of the HikaGo posters (to publicize the WeiQi [otherwise called Go] club) because I just LOVE the manga.

SAFMC discussion after official school. More like a practical hands-on session, not that I wasn't very happy.

Found out that ChunHui actually knows how to play Go! Must learn from her...I need some out put for my addiction...

Built a few gliders. Didn't know if they were successful. One of them kept flying AWAY from Sophia. When Sophia stood in front of it, it either did a semi-loop-the-loop up her nose (well, actually, it was near her nose) or dive and land before her feet.

It really hates her...

Manga Recommendation (XI)

Title: Uzumaki
Mangaka: Ito Junji
Genre: Horror

'Uzumaki' means 'spiral' in Japanese. Kurouzu-chou is a village somewhere by the sea. Strange happenings having to do with spirals occur. Spirals manifest themselves in the forms such as whirlpools, snails, ferns, shells, and obsessions.

The curse of the spirals draw the inhabitants into a point of no return...

..........

The summary is a total lift from 'Viz'.

I tried rephrasing it. It's kinda hard...

Holly Brackets

Watch Night was...wow!

For those who don't know, it's an event held by my church on the eve of the New Year.

It started at 21:00, but we started queuing by about 19:30. From last year's experience, where coming at 20:00 made those who came (I didn't go last year) then sit in the Overflow Room.

It's a room where people get chucked when the Auditorium (or was it Chapel?) overflows with people.

There was dinner with the buzz group at 18:00. I didn't know about until 17:10 thereabout. My church friend, Miranda, offered to meet at Paya Lebar MRT Station to show me the way to Singapore Post Center (or is it Centre?).

I accepted. After a rushed bath at 17:45, My father informed me that I could take bus 24 straight to Sing. Post.

I had to drag my sister along. So troublesome. Anyway, on my way to the bus stop, I SMSed my friend that I could go on my own and didn't need assistance, so I boarded the bus, typing the last few words: Boarding bus.

In the middle of the bus ride, at some sports stadium, JingYun (that's her name, right?) called me, and I mistook her for Miranda...HOW COULD I?!?!?!?!

The bus started getting really crowded at the stop where my church is. My sister, being the evil person she is, sat at the seats reserved for the 'elderly, disabled, and pregnant'.

We arrived at Sing. Post with a very confused me. So we wandered around looking for KFC.

Upon spotting the all famous junk food restaurant (just 2nd to McDonalds), we sprinted to the other side.

While waiting for more people to come, I went to buy my dinner.

A Shrooms Burger Meal exchanging Pepsi for Mineral Water was mine, just a Shrooms Burger was my sister's, and another Shrooms Burger Meal for YingYi (I think).

While waiting for the food (the Shrooms burger required a 3 minutes wait), we spotted this sign that stated, "Creamy Shrimp." Miranda asked what they put in that made the shrimp creamy.

I piped up, "Cream!"

And everybody laughed. Well, they did say 'Creamy', right?

The meal came a while later.

I didn't feel very full, but heck cares.

We queued up a while to get into the Auditorium (or Chapel), and then settled right in front at the alter. I somehow got stuck between a guy and Miranda...so stuck I couldn't even sit cross-legged...

Before Watch Night officially started, I visited the toilet, then a water cooler all the way on the other side of the church...

Bleah. The water tastes like cement...

Following that, we exchanged EZ-link cards just to stare at what others looked like when they were younger...much younger.

I had already taken off my specs, because I felt I wanted to sleep just a moment ago due to the fact that Miranda and Jasmine totally BANNED me from drawing and reading manga as they said that once I started, I wouldn't stop...

Che.

But I made a deal with them. I would draw for only 15 minutes. To this, they reluctantly agreed. JingYun (sitting in front of me), told the guy that was sitting beside me (I supposed they're acquainted) that he should watch and learn.

I wonder if the guy likes drawing too. I wonder if other people like drawing too.

Then after the 15 minutes was up, they made me draw this Eeyore plushie, JingYun's Christmas present which she brought to Watch Night.

So I did. They thought it was cute.

Watch Night started with Praise, so we jumped. =D

I like Praise. It's very...enthusiastic. Worship feels a bit too monotonous and dull, but, well, I...uh...like it a little.

After Praise, it's always worship. And after a short session of both, testimonies of God's goodness were shared. The first one was an Eurasian guy, if I remember correctly.

There was one guy that spoke in Chinese. Oh the HORROR! Because the guy beside me did really lousy in Chinese too, JingYun translated for him and I overheard.

In the end, someone on stage (I've got a feeling it was Pastor Gary, but I can't be sure) translated for us...

Then worship again, then testimonies, then worship again, then sermon.

Pastor Dominick Yeo, was it? I only remember him by Pastor Dom..

So I took down notes. At the same time, I tried drawing this circle shape thing made of flowers and plants and fruits. I was inspired by the HUGE one that hung above the stage.

It was hard work, but very fun. =D

After the sermon, we joined hands and prayed. We prayed for Abundand living, for Posterity, for Wholeness, for Plentifulness, for Wellness, and for Restoration.

First in English, then followed by tongues. Then we worshipped one verse and one chorus of a song and Pastor Dom. suddenly shouted, "3, 2, 1!"

And tadaa! 2009. It came as a BANG. I didn't even know it had come. It was so soon!

We were released much earlier than expected. The estimated time was 00:30, but we were let go by 00:10.

I tried calling my brother a few times to ask for his whereabouts, but each time, his directions were so vague (like 'at the gate' when there are two gates...) I really didn't know where he was.

Until he said 'gantry'. Okay. That one, I understood.

We stayed there for a while waiting for him. I called my home and my mother reported that my father had already left to pick us up.

When I turned around, I found my brother standing behind my sis (who was behind me) and he was holding this can of Milk Coffee in his hands. The Milk Coffee was the best! It was creamy and tasted a lot like Chocolate Milk!

You know, there WERE buses after midnight...so we didn't actually have to get my father to come, but it WOULD be more comfortable in a car...

My father told my brother to go to the bus stop, so we did. It was just a few meters away...

We stood there for a while. There was a car behind a double decker bus, and I asked if that could be our car, when my sister said, "Cannot be lah. It's white."

Turns out it WAS our car...

*laughs at sister with a sinister grin*

At home, we downed the last of my mother's birthday cake, changed into sleeping attire, and slept.

Oh, did you know my sister was complaining about her legs getting cramps? I've got a feeling that if she were a little MORE enthusiastic about the serivce she wouldn't feel a thing because God's Holy presence would heal her...

Never Lasts Forever

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO...uh...MY MUM!

My mum's birthday was yesterday, I only remembered at noon (yesterday) so I rushed to make her a card in the evening.

I feel sooooo blessed by giving her the card. Don't know why. I just felt like I was glowing with pride. I just can't help but feel happy when I think I made someone happy!

We celebrated her birthday with a cake today.

It was the first time after so long that I've had a cake that didn't have blueberry filling! So happy!

The chocolate on the cake was nice too. Yum!

The cream was awesome!

Er...the whole cake was awesome, yes?

I cooked spaghetti for lunch today. It was the best I've done! It was surprisingly easy, though it took a long time and lots of my patience...

I'm thinking I cooked too little. I didn't even feel half-full when I was done with my share...

Oh yea. Today, just before eating the cake during dinner, my sis sat with a cushion (about 70cm x 70cm between her legs at her...you know what.

I told her not to. She said she could because she was the one who took the cushion out so she had the right. And she wouldn't let me touch it.

Oh, you know what? She kept stealing Mr. Bump and hiding him, squishing him, abusing him (I'm gonna sue her for sexual harrassment or outrage of modesty toward soft toys...) and she calls me selfish!

So basically, now that she just went and criticized her own behaviour, she is hereby banned from even TOUCHING Mr. Bump because I not only took Bump out, but I also OWN Bump.

She should really consider her own behaviour first before pointing out my faults. It's like she's so focussed about the splinter in me she overlooked the log in her eye...

A Kid in 20 Years Time

2 days ago I cut my hair.

Now it's poofy and short, so much that when I shake my head vigourously, my hair doesn't tangle...

That's a good thing.

My hair dries much more easily too because of the short length.

Also, it isn't as irritating in the hot weather anymore.

But, I have a bit of a problem tying my hair and my hair gets in my collar, but other than that, I'm very happy.

*.*+*.*+ *.*+*.*+ *.*+*.*+ *.*+*.*+ *.*+*.*

Yesterday: Sunday

Headed for church at 10:37. Waited for the bus for what seemed like lightyears before the bus actually came.

Arrived at church late. At about 11:05. All my sis' fault. Char Siew Bao is protable, but she insists to eat it in the house.

Argh. That's why we probably missed the earlier bus.

So it was revealed that we were in the same buzz group. I'm not that thrilled. But at the same time, I am, once I found out that my sister was only going to church because our parents made us go and that she doesn't want to seek God.

Service was as usual, until alter call. I wanted a change in my life, because I have been straying from the track and the race we were supposed to run for God.

The alter overflowed, so we were on the steps. Although I wasn't prayed for (I think I was skipped, for some odd reasons. It happened a few times already. Maybe they could see my shining [already mended] relationship with God so they didn't think I needed help? [Dream on...]), I still felt His presence.

It was because I wasn't prayed for that I felt Him, I think. I've always been a selfish person, though I've tried hard to change, but I don't know if it worked. This time, when I wasn't prayed for, my heart told me that even if I was missed, I needed to let others be touched and prayed for.

So I extended my spiritual hands over everyone answering to the alter call and prayed. In tongues. When the worship team striked up a new song, I just felt this sensation coming over me and I almost teared. I wished I remembered the song, but I have a feeling it was an upbeat song...

I felt that God had wanted me to be aware of this selfishness that I have and that I should learn to place others before myself. I felt really blessed when I started blessing other people by praying for them.

I'm not sure if everyone was prayed for, but I just want all of them to know that even if they think they've been forgotten and that God won't reach them, I will pray for them, because I know what it feels like to feel forgotten, as if I didn't matter to the world.

After service, we gathered and ate at a nearby coffee shop/hawker center/restaurant. The food was nice.

But the service sucked.

I ordered Hor Fun along with another person, one of the leaders at the table ordered crispy noodles, the other one asked for rice with meat, and the 3 remaining (not leaders) called for Hokkien Mee.

The Hor Fun, Crispy Noodles, and Rice came first. My Hor Fun didn't come for the next half an hour. I was actually wondering if they'd forgotten my order...

During that 'next half an hour', the leader who ate the rice left, and I ate the leftover of half a bowl shape of white rice along with the slightly spicy sauce (hey, it's SSS!).

Yum!

Then up came the 3 Hokkien Mees. No wait, the Hokkien Mee came before the leader left, I think.

The other leader finished her meal, and the leftover was given to me again! Oh! How nice the noodles were!

A long while later, my Hor Fun still hadn't come, so we cancelled the order.

Following that, my sister couldn't finish her Hokkien Mee, so half the plate went down into my stomach.

A while later, another person who ate Hokkien Mee couldn't finish hers either, so I downed the 1/4 that was left.

I was so full, and in the end, I only had to pay for the Green Tea that I asked! What a cheap meal!

Hmm, before that 'half an hour where I waited without much patience for the never-coming Hor Fun', I talked to the leader at the other table about manga after she spotted me reading Parfum Extrait 0 which I got for my Christmas present.

She liked Furuba and Gakuen Arisu. Ah, the cliches of being a female.

On top of that, she didn't like Kaori Yuki's style, stating that it was too Western.

I thought that that was the good point about her drawings! It was unconventional and so original! I loved the style and admired it a lot!

Grr....

Oh! I just remembered. During that 'half an hour where I waited without much patience for the never-coming Hor Fun', one of the leaders at my table told us that the candy cane actually bears a significance to Christianity!

She said that if the candy cane was inverted, it would be a 'J', and that represented Jesus!

If you suck at the candy, the red comes off first to reveal white, which is purity! The red, representing Jesus' blood, cleansed us and made us pure!

Then if you looked at the upright candy cane in another light, it would look like a shepherd's staff! It represents Jesus as our shepherd, guiding us in the dark when we get lost.

So meaningful, right?

Hmm, after lunch, we headed back to church and collected a number for 'family communion'. In my buzz group's case, we're doing it as a 'spiritual family communion' instead of a 'biological family communion'.

I think our number was 235.

We assembled in the chapel, then when our number was called, proceeded to the preparation room, where we prayed for each other that we may be able to concentrate on our relationship with God in the new year of 2009.

When we finished preparing our hearts for the communion, we entered the summit, and after consuming the bread representing the body of Christ and the 'wine' representing the blood of the Lord, we prayed once more.

Then we were free to go.

I waited for my brother. He SMSed to say that his number was 254. During the wait, my sis found out from my mum that we were to go to Takashimaya. She said my brother knew the way.

Damn. I thought we could go home. My father had SMSed me earlier when I told him we'd be having lunch outside that we should take the bus home.

It turned out that my brother only knew the way to Orchard MRT Station. I could do up till that far too, didn't need his help or assistance...what was my mother thinking? Was she underestimating me?!

Anyway, I thought that by 'my brother knew the way', he knew how to get there by bus and arrive right outside Takashimaya.

ARGH.

In the end, we called my father and he told us to go to Wisma. From there, I dunno what'll happen.

So we went to Wisma. My sister spotted Takashimaya from there (wow, such a pro at spotting shopping centers...), but for some strange reasons, my brother led us into Wisma. Once again, I was misled that my brother knew the way...

We exited Wisma and headed for the red building my sister claimed to be Takashimaya. I was totally relieved when I saw the words 'TAKASHIMAYA' on the building...

Upon entering, we didn't know where we were, but I concluded that we were on the 2nd level of Takashimaya, seeing that 4 floors below us held a directory that enlarged level B2's map while that of the other levels were about half the size and shoved in a clump to the right.

We went up one level and entered Kinokuniya, informing our parents that we were going to stay there till they find us, cuz' we didn't know where in Takashimaya we were and we are going to get lost if we tried to find our way around.

I immediately headed for the manga section, totally awed by the (7) long rows of English manga.

It turns out that they even have Japanese Magazines! I saw Jump. It was, of course, in Japanese, but a shelf held the English version. There were many more Japanese magazines. About 6 rows of them.

There were manga in Japanese too. I didn't bother counting how many shelves, though I have a feeling there's over 3 shelves. Chinese translations were there too.

My father allowed me to get 2 Chinese mangas! Yay!

Oh yea, by the way, one side of these two shelves is one row:
________________________________________________________
I___________________________II___________________________I

(This is the top view of 2 shelves [and a very ugly illustration, on top of that...])

The row includes the bottom most to the top.
________________________________________________________
I___________________________II___________________________I
I___________________________II___________________________I
I___________________________II___________________________I
I___________________________II___________________________I
I___________________________II___________________________I

(This is side view, showing a complete row)

These five layers on on one side is a row.

Uh...I've got a feeling you may not exactly get what I'm saying, so I'll move on.

For dinner, we ate at one of the Crystal Jade branches in the area. We had to wait for a long time. About half an hour. Our queue number was 151. The light above our table was very nice. My father wished he had brought a camera.

We had the kind of dinners we wouls have when one of my grandparents' birthday comes. It was the first time we had it as an immediate family circle.

The first batch of Crysanthemum tea was very nice and sweat, the flavour was rich too, but the more refills we have, the less prominant the taste became...

It was a great meal. The fried rice was awesome! Though I wish the prawns would be slightly more fresh and not explode at the back...maybe some wine on them would be nice too.

After dinner, my mum continued shopping. At Bosini, I saw this/these (2) shirt(s) that was/were just simply awesome!

Well, of course, it/they was/were (a) guys shirts so my mother didn't get them for me...

I thought we were supposed to shop for Chinese New Year clothings...

You know, it was only when I heard the sound of metal...walls being pulled down to indicate that shops are closing that I realized how late 21:30 was...

Hmm, anyway, I got lost trying to find my way out of the toilet area. There were two areas connected to the toilet.

When I emerged from the ladies, I didn't know which direction to take, so I took the right one (though I had a feeling I was on the wrong track). It turned out that it was a totally different place where I came from...

I was really glad to make it back to Bosini...

My father muddled up the level where he parked the car, so we went from level 7 to level 6.

Oh yea. My mother banned me from buying anymore manga...so sad...would I be allowed to buy more if my Chinese improved?

Mr. Bump

Christmas! Is over.

So sad.

So yesterday, at 17:00, we left the house to go to Orchard Road to take a walk and see the lights.
Got to Bishan MRT Station by bus, then took the train to Orchard MRT Station. Then we started walking.

The lights were pretty amazing.

First, we went into Borders at some cone shaped building. I can't remember the name.

I immediately headed for the manga section. Tons and tons of manga. So many! All in English! I found GodChild, Cain Saga, Fairy Cube, Eyeshield 21, Prince of Tennis, and so many more! In English!

They didn't have Parfum Extrait 0 though...

Anyway, I was pretty shocked that they actually blocked out the roads so that we could walk along the streets to enjoy the lights without being knocked over...

Along the way, we saw a huge bunch of line-dancers made up of mostly the elderly.

We weren't supposed to cut across them while they were dancing (though it'd be a fine challenge to do so without getting hit) so we crossed onto the pavement.

Then we walked on. We saw some floats along the road. Obviously, if you saw something like that from the eyes of my father (who is nuts about taking photos), you would want to get a closer look.

So we retraced our steps and found a transition point to cross from the pavement to the road after the line-dancers.

After walking a while on the streets and admiring the floats, I noticed that often, there would be people trying to 'climb' across the fences made of green strings and gree sticks (brances, more like) stuck in the ground.

Then after walking a little more, we entered Lucky Plaza, because I thought that was where I bought my pointe shoes from as the exterior REALLY looks like the mall where I did buy them.

I never found out if it was the same one.

My sis got really pissed.

So we decided to eat. The fish and chips from the indoor kopitiam (it wasn't exactly a kopitiam because it didn't say 'KOPITIAM' in huge block letters at the entrance, but it looked and felt like on) was superb. I think they added garlic to the fish.

So then we continued walking.

We saw a church (or maybe it was a couple of churches) preaching about God on the streets. Somehow, I smiled.

They had a short (or maybe not so. I didn't muck around till the end of it) video on the birth of Jesus with a choir singing in the background.

You know, I was standing right at the back (about 20m-30m from the stage) with a speaker to my left and another to my right. The one to my left was closer.

Anyway, suddenly, this man came and stood between me and the left speaker, and I felt like my left ear has without warning went half deaf...

So scary. Then I turned myself here and there, and found out that my left ear was in good working condition when I could hear the sound from my right properly.

Then the man went away and I could hear the speaker with my left ear properly again.

Maybe the soundwaves were interrupted...

After a while, we reached Somerset. Then we got on the train there. It was so squeezy we almost couldn't fit in.

Then when we reached Orchard, my dad commented that he was glad that we didn't get off the train at Somerset and then walk to Orchard.

At Orchard MRT Station, the train was jam packed, but when some peopl left the compartment, there was space for more. But the people are so stupid! They just cram to get inside but never let the others get out.

How would they expect to get in like that?

Then we reached home, and bathed.

Then I opened my presents! Well, I chose and hand-picked them myself, so it wasn't much of a surprise, but I was still very happy!

The first one I unwrapped was Mr. Bump from Mr. Men series.

I mentioned him quite a while back in one of my posts when my mum dragged me shopping for clothes.

He was the most squishable soft toy I have. The dog (another soft toy which I also hand-picked) I got from Christmas 2 years back was 2nd.

Just so you know, I have a soft spot for soft toys and I'm not afraid to mention it.

As tomboy as I may seem, I still like the feel of squishable stuff in my hands. Mr. Bump was made of a very smooth material too, and that's what made me like it even more.

Then I opened Parfum Extrait 0!

My only English manga! And also my only manga that isn't from the Prince of Tennis Series.

I spent 1 hour reading it...

Oh. The bliss.

My father got presents too. Probably from his colleages and church acquaintances.

He got a packet of chocolates and sweets (he had Ferrero Rocher!).

Then he also got this plague that reads 'Purpose' and below it has a verse from Romans.

Merry Christmas to all!

Oh. I just remembered. Today is boxing day...wonder why it's called boxing day...

Lady of Gifts

Hi! Merry Christmas to all! I just finished this. It took me a whole hour... I just couldn't get the body proportions right...

And I hate to draw all those crazy presents in the background, so further back are all squiggles. I really have no patience to draw details...

I know the eyes look strangely weird (what the heck am I talking about...).

This picture is here because I just decided that it's Christmas and I should share the joy. This popped up in my head during the Christmas service that started at 11:00 in church today.

I just had to draw it. Didn't know what to do with it, so I chucked it here. It could be Random Girl 36, though. XD

As you can see, I didn't clean it up so the words at the top that read 'Merry Christmas' which I drew in a hurry to finish this are...uh...ugly.

The lines are not firm and you can see the stray ones jutting out...not a very pretty sight, I must say.

Hectic Gold

I'm having one of the worst days of my life.

I just came back from church camp (it was pretty fun, to say the least) 2 days ago, yesterday, I STILL had piano lessons, then today, I planned to go to the Science Center to do the SAFMC trials but didn't pack (or unpack, for the matter) for the trip tonight so I didn't go.

I'm leaving in about a little over an hour at 21:00. Destination: Genting Highlands.

Anyway, I don't want to go. It's ridiculous. I just came back from Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and now I'm leaving for Genting Highlands, Malaysia just 2 days after!

Church camp was good. Got in touch with God.

I'm not exactly sure how you know you've been baptised by the holy spirit, because if you want to speak in tongues, you can just mutter some gibberish and people will THINK you ARE speaking in tongues.

But speaking in tongues means you're giving the holy spirit a chance to do something in you.

I don't know what it feels like to speak in tongues.

Anyway, we had service twice a day for 2 days, and by the end of the camp after the morning service on day 4 (there was only 1 service on both day 1 and 4), my throat was hurting.

I could barely sing...

Getting slain was a different thing altogether.

I thought it was more of going unconscious so much that you only focus on what God has to show you and lose all touch with the outside world.

I see people falling. So I thought it was like that.

But when the adult leaders tried to slay me (that sounds weird...), they more like pushed me and I fell. I was so tense in the leg area but I didn't realize it till much later when I finally relaxed it.

I could still hear the music. To be frank, I was pretty disappointed.

I was expecting a total black out.

Well, my mind was a black out, but my senses still worked fine thank you.

So I was sort of forced to think about something that came to my mind during the morning service that day.

I was walking along the streets of a city bathed in darkness. No street lamps, no light.

The sky was a deep navy blue with sparkles of stars embroided into the silk.

Then the sun started rising. It wasn't very bright. Just the orange and yellow you get from mild imagination. No great shines or white rays of light.

Just something you get from mere colouring.

Just something a little larger than the Earth, and very close too, but it felt just warm. The tempearature you feel on the Earth where the sun is so far away.

Somehow, I turned away from it and faced the moon. Then I started soaring toward it. I landed on the bumpy grey surface and looked upon the Earth as the sun rose.

The moon wasn't huge. It was about...the one from the illustration on the cover of The Little Prince.

The Earth was slightly larger than the moon. About the size of a city, so I could see quite a lot from where I was on the moon. Of course, the moon wasn't far away either, or else the graviational pull of the Earth wouldn't be enough.

I kept pondering. Why did I turn away from the sun? Why did I refuse to look at the bright shining light before me? Why did I run to the moon for salvation?

The two situations I could think of that represented it was:

1. To show how I have turned away from God (the sun) and walked deeper into sin (the moon) and miss the warmth of the Lord.

2. To show how I resisted the Devil's temporary temptation (the sun) to go for something that lasts for an eternity (the moon).
*Note: The sun actually dies out, right?

Anyway, when it was time for testimonies, I heard from this guy that he could hear the music while he was slain, so now I'm pretty confused as to what being slain feels like.

I also heard that the type of church my church is is called The Assembly of God.

81 Holes

Hi. Today I'm here to tell you about American Mangaka Wanna-bes.

I have seen a lot of the American 'How to Draw Manga' books in bookshops, and once glance at it sends me running to the toilet.

I mean, how can they even sell something so Marvel-looking under the name of 'Manga'?

They're spoiling manga's reputation!

Have you actually seen their drawings?

On top of drawing terribly, the colours they use are so glaring it doesn't even look like manga at all!

The way they use colours is all wrong!

It's like those people have been drawing Marvel stuff all their lives and suddenly decide that they want to draw manga, turn up for a job interview, and POOF, get their ugly drawings on the shelves.

Ugh.

I already don't have a good impression of Americans, and now they intend to ruin my image of them even further.

My goodness. So terrible.

I've been drawing manga for only a year (well, 11 months, that is) and I already know what are the key points in them!

Well, I can't list them out. It's just that I can differentiate what's Japanese Manga, Korean Manhwa (they're quite good, actually), and lousy, immitation American Manga that aims for those who have never seen a single anime or manga before.

Who'd buy those books? Such strange drawings. Only a novice would stare at them like they were drawing heroes or something.

I think I'd much prefer copying Japanese mangakas works from the net.

Bleagh, I can't believe those Americans actually got their books published.

In the first place, I don't see how anyone (who knows what good quality manga is) would be attracted by their colour pages. The colouring is...how'd you say it...just one opaque colour with no highlights at all.

On top of that, all their characters have SUPER BIG EYES and SUPER HUGE CHESTS (for the ladies, that is) and SUPER HUGE HEADS.

That's so stereotypical, but manga has evolved beyond that.

Usually for shoujo manga, they use pale, milky colours like purple, pink, and the likes. The colouring usually makes you want to stroke the hair because it looks like silk.

But in some strange American 'How to Draw Manga' books, the colours are, as mentioned above, glaring, even though what they're trying to create is a shoujo style.

I wouldn't mind the colours for shounen style, but to go as far as to use those strange colours for shoujo? Even though I don't especially love the shoujo style or know it very well, I can tell you that no one in their right mind will buy that book.

I wonder if they released any of those American 'How to Draw Manga' books in Japan yet.

I'm interested to see how the originators of manga will react...

I'm not saying all Americans are terrible at drawing manga, I'm just saying that the publishers need to pick better artists to feature in their books...

3 Blue

Today there was a Christmas party at someone's house.

I took MRT on the Red Line from Bishan to City Hall, and ran so to the train on the Green Line heading for Pasir Ris/Changi so I didn't miss it. I almost got left outside if not from the fact that someone pushed me while I was trying to squeeze through the crowd.

Lucky.

For the rest of the party, I wasn't really involved. From Eunos MRT Station, we took bus 13 and alighted while it was raining.

Brother ZhiChao told us to stay in the bus stop till the rain stopped, but we didn't listen. We set off about 20 minutes later when the rain became almost a drizzle.

We arrived at the house no long later, asked the first timers to stand up, and received some door gifts (candy cane, if you must know).

For ice-breakers, we played Human Bingo. We must not just collect 5 boxes in a row, but must also get 5 rows! I just sat there and waited for people to come.

I don't like games. Not too enthu about it.

Then we played dress the Human Christmas Tree. We were given some crepe paper of green and red and those shiny silver things you hang on your Christmas tree.

Some tape, coloured paper and a pair of scissors were provided too.

The person chosen through open numbers was called Ruth. We called the Christmas tree Ruthless. We won the most spontaneous.

After that, we had some sort of video watching, looking at the life of one of the church members called Carol Wee.

Brother ZhiChao shared about his life too.

Then we just sat around until dinner time.

I was so full just after a little bit but I pushed down more than what I should. =D

I had 2 cups of the punch looking drink.

Then I sat down and started drawing (again).

Some people came over after a long while and commented on how nice my drawings looked. Then they started talking about manga.

They talked about how person A (Jackie, I think) didn't like Sasuke and didn't want Sakura to be with him. She prefered Sakura to be with Itachi (bleagh. OMG. So mismatched...).

I joined the conversation with these words: Gaara is cool.

Looking back, I feel so stupid.

Anyway, the conversation continued for a long while. Oh, before that, I was requested by one of the people to draw for her.

Wow. It's my 4th commission ever.

1st one went to Miranda. 2nd one went to Ying Yi. 3rd one went to Miranda again. 4th one was hers. I forgot her name, not that I ever knew it in the first place.

All of them were from church.

More people joined, and Jackie drew a chibi Sasuke on my paper. It was pretty cute (GASP. She said the word 'cute'!), but I kept wondering why she drew him when she didn't like him...

So then, a long while later, still half talking about anime and manga, we decided to go as a group to the MRT station to go home.

I needed to go to the toilet, so I went just before we left.

OMG. The toilet was in the dog area and it was so freaky to just walk in there. I'm scared of dogs, I'll admit this now...

Then when I came out of the toilet, I stepped into the dog's litter bin (if you know what I mean) and was so disgusted I immediately went back into the toilet to wash my foot.

Actually, I figured what it was before the maid (I assume), told me. It was just this newspaper in an empty cardboard box, and around the middle of the newspaper was this wet spot...

So freaky.

Oh. Then we walked to the bus stop. We had to cross the road, so I ran. It was probably the first time in my life I ever jay walked so dangerously...

I wish I hadn't done that.

The others were lagging a bit for their own safety, so them came a little later.

We boarded the first bus that came along. 155.

We were supposed to alight at Eunos MRT station, but somehow extended the bus ride to Paya Lebar.

When I looked out of the bus, I was so freaked out and felt so insecure. The whole place was black with a few orange spots here and there.

I felt like I could get lost anytime...

Once we got off the bus and arrived at the MRT station, I suddenly felt this sense of peace, being able to get to this brightly lit place.

Person B ran ahead of us because she saw the train arrive and wanted to catch it.

I think she missed it, because when we went up a little while later when the train had left, she was still there...

So the rest and me took the MRT heading the opposite direction and talked about PSLE or the likes.

The person that I did the 4th commission for said that she got 4 A*s but only got 260. I got 3 A*s but got 266.

Now that I think about it, I find it really weird. If she got 4 A*s, the lowest she can get is 273!

Anyway, once back to Bishan MRT station, I feel so at home...

And now I'm back!
